Previously, I have had excellent experiences with Jet's Pizza and have placed numerous orders in the past. However, tonight will be my last. After placing an order an hour before closing for delivery, I received a call from the manager on duty, Patrick, who stated on voicemail that "right now my driver is going to be out past close and I can't take any more deliveries." No apology. No "we are sorry." Nothing.
I received his second call moments later to try and inform me of the same. Again without any form of apology. He acted as if I had made a mistake placing my order an hour before they closed. I asked why they didn't shut off deliveries online and he stated that the web order times are "decided by corporate" and are set to 30 minutes prior to close even though they can't accommodate order on some Friday nights like this. He was emphatic to correct me that the business is not understaffed tonight, just that they have too many orders to fill than the single driver available on a Friday night. He made a point to say they had sufficient staffing all day, just that his driver cannot be out past closing because of "corporate." The very same "corporate" that keeps their online orders operational at least an hour before closing.
I am completely understanding when a business gets overwhelmed because of too many orders. I've worked fast food and served tables for many years. I totally get it. I also think it's great to consider the well-being of your employees and drivers. I avoided ordering at the last minute just for this reason, even though I have had Jet's deliver past closing many times in the past. Just have some sort of apology for not being able to run your business like you normally would. Fake it if you have to. Instead, he kept blaming corporate.
He mentioned "corporate policies," as opposed to the owner or more specifically him, so many times that I had to state that as the consumer, I don't differentiate or really care about corporate vs franchise. Jet's Pizza, to me, is Jet's Pizza. Whether it's Jet's pizza in Florida, Texas, Timbuktu, corporate offices, or manager Patrick from Jet's Pizza Peachtree City, GA. All that to me, means: Jet's Pizza. This experience is a poor reflection on Jet's Pizza corporate, franchise, and any other form it may take.
I ended up canceling the order because a household member couldn't trust that they wouldn't spit in the pizza, even if I came to pick it up. There was no apology or even understanding. Just an "okay" and then he hung up. Had he attempted any sort of apology, or even if he had acted slightly embarrassed that they didn't have enough staffing, I wouldn't have had an issue. I live very close (within a mile) and, even though I didn't want to, I would have come to pick up the pizza. However he simply acted with a "deal with it attitude." Since I am gf, it is very hard for me to find good pizza places. When I ordered the gf pizza, the first thing the cashier says to me and I quote, "Are you celiac, cause if so, you are going to die here"!! He was trying to say that they sometimes cross-contaminate their crust, but there are many different way He could have said it. Also the pizza is ridiculously expensive. 12 dollars just for the basics (crust, sauce, and cheese) and 1.50 fee for all other topings (even pepperoni)!! And after I got my food, I was severely disappointed. Yes the crust was thick, but it had no flavor what so ever. Also, the sauce was as bland as water. The cheese and pepperoni were ok. The evening shift will add a Tip & not remove it if you put your Tip in the jar they have sitting by the register! I always Tip & I do not mind Tipping the Morning/Midday Shift but, the evening shift they do not deserve a second tip after they have added one on my bill especially without informing me the Tip has been added before I put money in the tip jar.
