Let me state by saying I grew up in Memphis and am use to a wide variety of BBQ places and BBQ types. I will confess to a bias to Memphis BBQ and environments even though I've lived here in Birmingham for 34 years; 4 years longer than in Memphis.
With that said/admitted let me state that I like CREEKSIDE BBQ! Their seating inside particularly is limited and they do have outdoor seating on the 'porch' for those who like covered outdoor seating. When the weather is a pleasant temp and sunny why not opt for a table outside?
All the food portions are more than adequate! If you leave hungry then your metabolism and stomach size are far beyond my lifetime knowledge or experience.
They have a WIDE variety of sides to accompany a WIDE variety of BBQ centered entrees! I have been there the total of 3 times with family and I've tried a different side each time. Each time the quality of food, both entree and side, were excellent.
The location is nice as it is right at the Hwy 119 & I-65 exit. Easy in and easy out which ever way you are going. It is in a popular and voluminous fast food restaurant exit so if you need to have a variety of choices to satisfy a group then this is an excellent location to visit
This is being nit-picky but please suffer me on this one. As with many smaller businesses nowadays they use a credit card system that utilizes an iPad. These systems automatically prompt a 'request' for a tip. Heaven knows I cannot fault a person or business to get all they can in our capitalistic society but, it can be a fine line between requesting compensation for services rendered and begging. It is up to each customer to make their own decision here but as everything at this establishment is 'self-serve' except for the food preparation and the cleaning of the individual mini-serving trays. You get your own drink. They do deliver the food to the table once it is prepared (for those dining in) and they do clear the table upon completion. With all that considered the price of the food certainly has the price of these services built in. A suggested tip at the point of the order comes across to me as pandering and not rewarding for services rendered. To me it would be 'classier' not to do things the way they do. If you want a tip then do things the way most all restaurants do and earn it. Allow the customer to experience your product and service and then compensate for BOTH AFTER they have been experienced and not upon the point of the ordering of the product.
With this minor point of personal, but legitimate, irritation I still recommend CREEKSIDE BBQ to you and your family or group. I cannot imagine you not enjoying your food or your...
Read moreHere's my take on this place very good customer service. Very clean, nice atmosphere Now for the food, love that they have the crush ice for drinks. so I ordered. Two meat combo plate rib and bbq pork. For the ribs, they were decent. I got the center cut .they were seasoned no sauce required 🙄 for the bbq pork it was off some how like if they were put in some sort of Marinate and left too long and it broke the meat complete down like it broke everything down. Without saying anything i let my 16 year old taste the pork she said the say thing the pork has been broking down to much (How do I know i been cooking professionally 35 years seen 🤔 and done all.) And the( sauce) never, and I mean never have I tasted anything like it. I was trying my best not to( throw up). I am sorry, but I don't know how to put it any other way . trying to figure out what was mixed with it . if it was mayo 🤔 I don't like it . and I am talking about the red bbq sauce that would explain the color of it. cause it's not red, like deep in color, they do have white two . If they put mayo in the red sauce that would explain some of that (throw up )feeling, i hate mayo .so bbq pork was [terrible,] not edible. Now I say I had seen it all. [nope], I order corn casseroles. Well, never I mean, never had I ever eaten Cheese 🧀 corn casseroles. it looked like nachos cheese that has sat in maybe a( school box office ) at a high school game . I taste it. it was a no for me .I took it back up to the counter, and the young man said,[ "Can I get you something else very nicely?"] So I got the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese had those large noodles. I wish they were the regular sides one . It seems to have a regular Mac and cheese base that was ok but was not a favorite 😕 for me. Also, they put crushed look like *bbq chip) to me . I would suggest maybe putting butter tosted panko and cheddar cheese mix together toast and top as you serve or just cheese on top. This may past for some . Just not me . bake beans were ok and edible. I would suggest a little bbq sauce real if you have to( buy) it . Mustard ,ketchup [ I could tell you more. but I can't give you all my secrets,] so my two stars come for good customer service, good crush ice; decent ribs. I would say to anyone try this place for yourself everybody taste is ...
Read moreReally really good. The staff were really friendly. Ordered a kids grilled cheese with a side of Mac and cheese. A smoked roast beef sandwich without the onion or horseradish sauce with a side of Mac and cheese and a chicken dark meat plate with a side of baked beans and corn. And then 3 drinks and the total was $38. Oh and some cookies. The kids meal came with a cookie and our other two cookies were on the house because of a mistake in our order that the staff fixed ASAP so I'm not sure how much the cookies cost individually The roast beef was fantastic. Had a great salty/smoky taste. Hubby said the chicken was great too...just a pure hickory flavor with no extra seasoning. 7yo didn't like the Mac and cheese because she thinks they put "spicy" chips on top (they weren't spicy...they tasted like Doritos to me) so be mindful of that if you have a picky eater. I loved the atmosphere. We sat outside over looking the creek. They have inside and covered outside seating. Let's have a conversation about these cookies we got....they were salty chocolate chip cookies. If you have never had a salty chocolate chip cookie you are missing out. So so so good. And they were the perfect softness. It's in the old Waffle House location. Go check it out and support a local business instead of a chain restaurant. You will not be...
