This is an updated review after hosting an event this past July.
As a beer bar and restaurant this spot is absolutely five stars. If you or a group of friends want a casual night out with a great selection of beers I highly recommend this spot. Food is great, service is friendly and the beer selection is top notch. The only negative is that this is not an accessible space for anyone with mobility issues.
As an event space I'd probably have to give this place one or two stars. We hosted a small after party to our wedding and in hindsight probably wouldn't have picked this spot. It actually really put a damper on our day with how the party shook out. Unfortunately who we worked with planning the event was not working that evening, but the night may have gone smoother had he been. Pros: Great location, beautiful old building, parking and transit nearby, guests enjoyed having their own space, there are bathrooms upstairs, the manager we worked with to plan the event was great, we were able to bring cornhole which guests loved and guests really enjoyed the food (especially the fruit tray!) and liquor. There was plenty of seating as well as an area to dance. The space is pretty flexible and manager is super chill so you could probably decorate it as desired - we just kept it as is. Cons: The communication during the event was extremely poor. We had gone over what to expect for communication with the manager and it did not pan out that way at all. We had thought staff would inform us how much was left on our minimum so we could order folks a round of drinks, etc. But instead we were just handed a bill and it was not made clear what had happened. We wound up having to email the manager after the fact to figure out what had happened. The staff working was pretty rude, to the extent that guests commented on it. The beer list was very poor, which as beer lovers having a beer themed wedding was a huge bummer to us. The staff was not able to give much information about the beer. When I asked what was local with an out of town guest we were just told the types of beer, not the breweries or any other information. To-go boxes were out very late so a lot of the food we had ordered was wasted. The playlist I had sent before hand was completely bungled repeatedly - to the extent that our very drunk guests even noticed the same song was playing yet again (one song somehow played 5 times despite the song being on the playlist once and me and other guests repeatedly asking staff to make sure the list wasn't on shuffle and to skip the song every time it came on after it played the first two times). I would also note that it was HOT upstairs, but we also had an event on a freakishly hot evening and it is a historic building so that's not entirely on them. But be aware if you or your guests have heat intolerance like myself. And the last negative, which really isn't a big deal unless you're a lighting snob like myself, the lighting upstairs is just kinda weird and harsh. Guests commented on it feeling weird to dance because the lighting was just kinda off. The building is beautiful so if they were able to update the lighting to better match the downstairs that would infinitely improve the vibe for...
Read moreWhat a great place to have a meal and a beer or two in Olde City! The food is excellent. Not your typical bar stuff. And the bartenders know their beers.
I had the crispy chicken sandwich with the fresh cut fries and my friend had the octopus salad. Both excellent and memorable. I’m still thinking about how good it was. It’s something different than your average bar. It’s clear they care about what they serve you and that you have a good experience there. Lots of beers on tap - I had the Mikeller Stick inter Ear and Peachy McPeachface, and they were quite good.
I think it’s cool that the speaker system is hooked up to a turntable and they play old records instead of a jukebox. The bathrooms are clean and not at all scuzzy. I sat on the toilet without trepidation. The bar chairs have a wide seat and comfortable back (as opposed to stools) and there are hooks under the bar to hang your bag or purse, which is a big plus for me.
In addition to the roasted meats, They serve pickled vegetables, salads and other non-meat selections on the menu if you prefer something light or if you don’t eat animal products. I can’t wait to go back and try the mac & cheese cricible and the pickled veggies.
The prices are in line with the neighborhood, but not too expensive. I will definitely be back. If you want to have a meal and a drink, or just a drink or two, I...
Read moreI wanted to share my experience with Glory Beer Bar + Kitchen for anyone planning a smaller, more intimate wedding or event. From the beginning of our engagement, my husband and I knew we wanted a cozy wedding with about 40 guests so we could prioritize our honeymoon. I actually found Glory Beer Bar + Kitchen through a FB group when searching for rehearsal dinner recommendations (because I assumed that size space would be perfect for us), and I’m so glad I did.
Working with Dave and Brian was an absolute dream—they were incredibly accommodating and kind. The food was phenomenal, and they were so flexible with the menu, helping us create something that fit both our preferences and budget perfectly. We were even able to set up the night before, which made everything so much easier.
The day itself felt like a dream. The staff were wonderful, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food was and how friendly the team was. When I started planning, I felt a bit lost because so many venues had large minimum guest counts that didn’t fit our vision, but finding Glory was a breath of fresh air. If you’re looking for a cozy and personal space for your wedding or any private event, I highly...
