We hired Bobby and the Karma Philadelphia team to cater our full wedding day. We realized very early in the process that one of the most important aspects of any event is the food, so we had to be sure we chose a strong caterer. Hiring Bobby and his team was one of the best, if not thee best decision we made through the wedding vendor selection process.
From the very beginning Bobby ensured us he would do everything to make our wedding day absolutely perfect and he delivered on that promise. He was extremely professional and very flexible with our wants and needs. He set up an amazing private food tasting that our families absolutely loved. It was hands down the best and most organized food tasting we did. He took our choices and added in several recommendations that we wouldn’t even of considered. They were so good, we actually went with a few that he chose for our events!
Bobby and his team catered the full day wedding (lunch, cocktail and dinner). He went above and beyond to make sure our guests had a great experience. He spoke to the venue directly to set up visits and make sure that everyone knew the lay of the land for a very smooth day of process. Everyone raved about the food for every meal and we’re still being asked who catered. Anyone who has been to any type of Indian event knows you’ll have the people who will find something wrong with anything, but his food silenced even the harshest of critics! He took care of a few of our guests who had dietary restrictions by making separate plates for them to enjoy the food. Bobby even made sure that there were plates put aside for us, so we could eat during any down time we had.
We literally could not of asked for a better experience and outcome. We’ve been to a lot of weddings, but I can say without a doubt that Bobby and the Karma team was the best food we’ve had. We say this as the bride and groom who nitpicked every aspect of our wedding decisions. We have no regrets and would hire them for any event we do moving forward. We highly recommend the Karma team for all your catering needs. They do an incredible job tailoring the food options to your liking and will go well beyond the duties...
Read moreI love Indian food, particularly the (oddly) British staple of Tika Masala that is commonly served, but there is one catch... I prefer it dairy free! I looked this place up on GrubHub, but then called directly to make sure they could accommodate my request. Not only was the hostess wonderful, accommodating, and very concerned about potential allergies, but she took my name and suggested I order directly on their site (which also saved me GrubHub fees) and she would keep an eye out for my order to notify the kitchen. Major points already! I was out of their delivery area, but she said she would take the order anyway and get it delivered. And WOW did Karma deliver in every way!
The owner, Bobby, actually delivered my order personally and asked about my experience. I'm sure that doesn't happen often, but it was a nice touch and also demonstrates how the restaurant is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their customers get their food. He was so wonderfully concerned about my opinion of the food and my overall experience.
The food itself was excellent, and especially given the fact that it was made dairy-free to boot. A+ We got Tika Masala, Pakora (the fried onion and veggie yummy appetizer), and Indian style wings. Amazing and full flavors, and still hot upon arrival which is hard to do with wings with delivery! As you can see I don't post a ton, but when a place goes out of its way to take care of a customer, it deserves a serious shout out. Thank you Bobby and Karma (great name by the way and your generosity and care will go far). I highly recommend this place and encourage you to seek out the owner when to go there. Nice to know when a business cares so much, and takes serious pride in their place and in their food. Support this place since we all know how hard it was for restaurants during the pandemic, and we know places like this need our...
Read moreFool me twice, shame on you. Fool me thrice, shame on me. Well fortunately for me, there will be no third. Two times a charm for me here!
(this is based on take out once, and dine in once)
Great service, great decor, but food was quite poor. Constructive criticism: Dont overcook your chicken. It was quite dry and not pleasant to eat. Slow cook your curries so that the flavor actually sets into the meat. I am a cook and know what you did here. The chicken was cooked separately in a batch, rather poorly in both occasions. Then it was added to pre aliqouted curries. Tsk Tsk. Karma Your restaurant says authentic. I dont know a place where authentic means fake chutneys for samosa. My chutney should not be so bright green. Is that food coloring? That is not natural, please stop adulterating my food with it. Also, do you even make your own "sweet" chutney? Or do you just buy apple chutney and severely water it down. Either way, you need help here. I dont know if you remember which spices to put in the curry, but chicken muglhai calls for garam masala, cinnamon, bay leaves, amongst other things, yet all i could taste was cream and corriander, along with some yellow tumeric coloring to my fingers.
Overall, your restaurant is beautiful and you guys are very nice, but authenthicity is lacking.
I suppose your general population does not know much of a difference, and just love the ethnic foods, but its probably only because they know no better.
If you cook indian food, this place will surely disappoint you. Mumbai bistro has more flavorful food than this. Either way, this will be my final attempt at...
