Kennedy Food Garden — Restaurant in Philadelphia

So slow! Also: dirty, and no ventilation. Note, there's no actual outdoor garden.

This place had good reviews but I was disappointed. It was subpar. I was excited to go on a beautiful day in Philly, thinking I'd got a sandwich and eat outside. Note - there's no actual garden.

Positive - seems reasonably priced for the area. The staff was nice and were hustling but the system was just poorly set up so it still ended up having lots of delays.

Negative - everything else. I'll highlight 3 issues -

1. They're hustling but so inefficient - long lines for ordering, long waits for a basic sandwich to arrive, and then a long line to pay.

2. The place is in serious need of ventilation. It was stuffy.

3. It's dirty, which concerns me. It's certainly possible they have high standards for their kitchen and it's all sanitary, but the place was dirty, and that made eating there a lot less tolerable.

It might be unfair that I had expectations of it being more than what it was. Lower your expectations and maybe it would be fine. The table next to me seem to be a big fan of the sandwiches. They said it's 'worth the wait' for the huge sandwiches. Perhaps I caught them...

I normally eat there every day and I’ve done take out during this COVID-19 period. I heard my favourite employee that was working there for 13 years at least was laid off because they had COVID-19. They had spent their required time in quarantine only to come out of it ready to work and found out they had no job. all immigrants Need to be treated fairly during this time period. If you’re going to treat an employee like a slave and not be filled with compassioon to the people that make all your money and profit that’s not right. I think this is time to boycott this...

My hope is to believe that Delis will do you right. With a good rotation of customers everything will always be great. Right? Well not totally.

Corn Beef Special is my go to. But the bread was just a little tough. I know rye bread can be hard but I normally have one where the rye is a little softer.

Ate the sandwich without the bread and I was pleased.
