I visited Mari Mari for a casual weeknight dinner. I had pretty high expectations after seeing the new Philly locations featured on social media. The menu offers great customization options which makes it ideal for accommodating different dietary preferences.
My friend and I order several items to share. We went for the 'Choose 3 Mari Rolls Option'. We got the Chicken Katsu, Korean BBQ (Beef), and Spicy Beef rolls all made with purple rice and Bulgogi Garlic Sauce. We also got the Spicy Chicken and Cheese Bulgogi Inaris as well a Kimchi Ramen with chicken. All of our food was ready in 15 minutes.
I enjoyed all three of the sushi rolls with the Korean BBQ being my favorite. The beef was tender and paired really well with the Bulgogi Garlic Sauce. The Inari were decent, but not my favorite item of the entire meal. I would recommend the Spicy Chicken over the Cheese Bulgogi. I'm very picky about restaurant ramen and as pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the Kimchi Ramen. The broth was delicious; the kimchi complemented it very well without being overpowering. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting for the first time.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Mari Mari. I personally love the ability I have to customize my meal. I also like the good quality and unique offerings as a smaller fast casual spot. While it may not be the most authentic Japanese sushi experience, Mari Mari has something for every...

The description of the name mari mari is interesting and is displayed on the wall of the restaurant.
Founder Youngnam Kwon opened the first Mari Mari in Philadelphia in 2020. He started learning about Japanese cuisine in the food industry in 2006 and moved to New York in 2013 to experience a bigger food market. While experiencing a newer and greater food market in the US the idea of sushi with an easier and more casual image came to mind, and after a long time of research and work in New York City, Mari Mari was born. You may be wondering, "What does Mari mean?" The meaning of Mari is "roll" in Korean. In Korea, there is a food called "Kimbap" that uses seaweed nori, rice, and various ingredients that are similar to Japanese sushi. As a Korean who has studied Japanese food for a long time, he wanted to create and develop the category of new Asian American-style sushi through this Mari Mari. He wants people to be provided with higher-value food at a more reasonable price. The new fast-casual sushi, Mari Mari wants to share its unique feeling, atmosphere, and excitement.

Read moreI fell in love with this place because of a review I was on Tik Tok. I’ve ordered mainly through DoorDash but was so excited when I saw the actual store. The customer service wasn’t horrible however, the woman who took my order either didn’t hear me or forgot what I asked. I spent $30 and told her I needed a bag upfront because I was going to eat some at the restaurant and take the rest home. Again, I ordered $30 worth of food and drinks. I had to go up to the counter and request the bag again which was fine they were pretty busy. She gave me a small bag considering everything I ordered that included 3 drinks. I felt uncomfortable when i had to ask for a bag with handle that’s bigger. I packed my items up and used their restroom but decided to take my belongings with me because I was a party of one. I come back and my tray that I wasn’t even done with was cleared from the table. It made me feel unwanted even if I’m misreading the situation I love th food but prefer to order...
