Tl;Dr Wildly overpriced restaurant that doesn't seem to know what they're doing and don't seem to care about the experience. Hawthorne's was a decent restaurant- this place is a complete joke of a restaurant. There were five of us and a baby in a stroller who can't eat solid food yet. The menu states an automatic 20% for large parties of 8+. They changed us the 20%. There were three other tables besides us for brunch on a Saturday, so there's no excuse for this awful situation. We ordered altogether: three breakfast sandwiches (two WITHOUT English muffins) and two benedicts. Somehow, one breakfast sandwich and one benedict came out, but the rest just didn't come out- no explanation. When we asked what was going on about 5 minutes later, the server told us he hit the wrong buttons and THEN offered us the "mistake food," but then the breakfast sandwiches still weren't done for over 20 minutes- the ones that were basically scrambled eggs and sausage. I could make 4 rounds of breakfast sandwiches in that time... Others around us were served their breakfast sandwiches. We just wanted em without one thing... I know you're also thinking about the fact that one benedict came out while the other just didn't. My favorite detail? The one that came out later was Norwegian with cured salmon- they didn't even need to cook it compared to the Canadian bacon. During the wait, one of us ordered another drink- they absolutely changed us for it. $16 for a paloma that we only ordered because we were held hostage. But don't even get me started on the drinks... Unreal. They're mostly one giant ice cube. Literally a huge block of ice takes up at least ⅔ of your glass; it goes from the top to the bottom and is a rectangular prism that just barely fits in the glass. I literally just did the math: it's approximately 60% ice. Our server was wearing a graphic tee shirt. What planet am I on where that's what you wear to work as a server?? They never apologized nor did they comp anything- clearly this is part of their thing based on the other reviews that appear real. Nobody should ever go here. Sorry if you see...
Read moreTo be honest, we were pretty disappointed with our experience. My friend and I were excited to try this second location based on what we had heard from multiple friends who had gone when it first opened. The vibe inside is super cozy. We went around 6pm on a Wednesday. There was no one at the front when we walked in. After waiting for a bit, one of the bartenders had to tell the host we were up front. Not many tables were seated at the time. After looking at the menu and speaking with our server, we were sad to hear the menu had completely changed and was now going to be more like the Fishtown location. We had been looking forward to the crudo and mozzarella we had heard everyone raving about. We had been planning to have a full dinner but decided to just stay for a drink and a snack. Our martinis were not good. It also took a long time for the drinks to come out as well as our fries. We immediately asked for our check when the fries came out since we didn't know when we would see our server again and had already made a reservation at another place while we were sitting there. Another friend of mine was there at the same time who had been there opening weekend and echoed the same disappointment in menu changeup and quality of food and service. This place has a lot of potential. But, unless some changes are made, we will not be back and will not be...
Read moreI had a delicious lager beer, a mediocre pub burger, and I guess, OK customer service experience. The beer was beautiful in color clarity and taste (yum!),but the burger was almost flavorless and felt completely greasy to hold (I had to use a napkin to stop from feeling like I was dipping my hands in grease every time I held it). The fries were nice and crunchy and well seasoned. The pickle was super thin, super soggy, and it tasted as if it were going bad. When I asked the server about the pickle, she checked in with the kitchen and then came back with the explanation that the pickle just happened to be what was left at the bottom of the barrel. She didn’t offer to exchange it for a good one, or two give me a slight discount for the bad one. The ambience was very nice. I ate outdoors and the weather was very pleasant. Inside, it looked nice and clean. They had just opened for the evening. I live nearby, so I will try them again for a different dish, but today was not a win for either of...
