Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts — Attraction in Philadelphia

About three Fridays ago in June there was a reception and educational informational workshop scheduled with a guest jazz personality who was performing later in the weekend regular shows. That reception was canceled and no notifications were sent out by email just the same as the announcement was sent out for it in the first place! It was also not mentioned on radio programs! I came there and waited for the doors to open suspect that something was wrong and got lucky enough to run into a gentleman who worked with the youth coming out of another entrance around Broad Street and inquired about it. I was told that that you was canceled on a Monday and this was Friday!!. I traveled down there on public transportation and I would have been meeting a friend; but I had to go back the same way,- because I had to call them and tell them not to come down! This is outrageous and unacceptable! You need to have events as planned; or do, AND do a better job of notifying the public when you cancel...

Did not like my experience. I sent an email and have not received a response. Several years ago I was disrespected as a volunteer. The two males, one dark-skinned (black), fat and old, and the other fair/light-skinned, fat and old, were at the front desk during the time/performance I was volunteering and made me feel uncomfortable. The dark-skinned male gave me a creepy compliment about my posture and the fair/light-skinned one yelled at me when I was "taking too long" to tell him where I directed a couple to the bathroom. Very ungrateful; I did not have to be there. Philly and black people up there need to watch their attitude, especially to a fellow black female...

What a wonderful and somewhat hidden resource for the city of Philadelphia! A jazz club with top-notch musicians inside a renowned music school on South Broad and Fitzwater. They have a lot of immensely talented bands that play here, both “names” as well as up-and-comers as well as student open-mic pick-up bands.

They also have a bar, which rounds out the experience. I am dinging them one star to four stars because the drink service is somewhat chaotic and, at least, some drinks are very expensive ($24 for a double-shot of Jack Daniela??!!). But this really, overall, is a five-star establishment and I am thrilled...
