Wayward is a good name for this restaurant. As in the service went wayward. Or the food order went wayward.
I ate here at least five times since I was staying at the Canopy Hilton. One of the hostesses is very nice and over the week she knew instinctively which tables I preferred. I’ve eaten here mid afternoon, breakfast, brunch, dinner, and lunch. I had free meal vouchers as a Hilton member.
The first time I ate here there was a food item missing from the burger. The staff was very accommodating and retrieved the missing ingredient.
I received an entrée and a salad at the same time even though I specifically asked for the salad first. I was told that since I had ordered from the bar menu, my instructions were ignored because all dishes are supposed to come out on the table at the same time.
The last time I visited, I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict, but the server brought out the ham Benedict, then claimed that she had entered the correct salmon order into the system and that the kitchen had erred. There was a 45 minute wait for the correct order to arrive. The restaurant the way of accommodating me was to charge me for only the price of the ham Benedict, which was a whopping two dollars savings. It was that that point that I found out from a different lady that my server had entered the order incorrectly.
The two people at the table next to me smirked when I had gotten the wrong order. However, they asked their server how they could use their meal vouchers and a server said she didn’t know anything about that, that she just worked at the restaurant. I know that you’re supposed to charge to the room to be able to have the hotel apply the meal credits to the meals, but I decided to say nothing. The two people ended up charging their breakfast individually on their respective credit cards.
The Wayward is a beautiful restaurant. The furniture is comfortable and the decoration is meticulous.
The stuffed French toast was inedible. The mixed green salad was fantastic. The meatballs...
Read moreWith all these positive reviews I thought this would be a safe bet. I have to say I’m very disappointed in my experience. To start on a positive note, our waitress was great. The Decor is beautiful. , and the vibes are great…that unfortunately is where my praise ends. There were eight to my party. We had made reservations a week prior for 145 seating. We arrived to the restaurant on time only to be told that the kitchen closes at 2 o’clock and reopens at five for dinner so we have 15 minutes to get seated and place our order. This started our experience out on a sour note because we couldn’t understand why they would allow a 145 reservation for eight people when the kitchen closed at two. Fortunately, we are pretty decisive bunch so we placed our orders and drinks before the kitchen closed. I don’t know if this was because we put our orders in when they were about to close, but my burger was unsatisfactory. We primarily came here for the famous French toast only to be told that they had already sold out of the French toast for the day. I asked for my burger to be medium and to add a runny fried egg on top. what I received was a well-done burger with a well-done fried egg and a hard bun. The main characteristic of brioche is that it’s supposed to be soft. The bun that I received, as well as four more members of my party, was hard. Not hard like they toasted it too long but hard like it had been sitting out all day. I had a really high hopes for this place and unfortunately they were not met. I will say that our drinks were good. I would come back here for a quick drink with friends, but I would have to think long and hard before I ate here again. Hopefully they stop allowing reservations so close to closing, maybe this would result in better...
Read moreI read the reviews on line and based on the reviews I made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner! Parked the car 3 blocks away from the restaurant hard to locate the restaurant on google map from where we parked, finally got to the restaurant for our 5 pm reservation for Thanksgiving dinner. The place was empty few people at the bar and few in the restaurant! I specifically had asked not to b sitted by the door and our table was by the door even though the restaurant was empty at 5:pm. I couldn't understand that! The background music doesn't suit the atmosphere and it's not at all pleasant to the ears trying to have dinner! We ordered the smoked tartar for appetizer and my son and I ordered the Thanksgiving dinner 3 course meal for $55 and my Ex ordered the steak. The salad was nothing special with no dressing and if it had dressing I couldn't taste anything it was so dry! The main course came out not looking at all appetizing the food was cold as ice the stuffing was burnt and only a small strip of turkey wih cranberry sauce no mashed potatoes it was the most awful dinner ever! Take a look at the picture! We called the waitress to bring back the menu so we can order another dish because we were hungry. I'm not sure why this restaurant got so many good reviews and everyone raves about there food, but what a disappointment for us trying this establishment for the first time! Never go here on Thanksgiving u b disappointed. The only reason I gave it a 2 stars was our friendly waitress and the manager who took out the two thanksgiving dinners from our finall bill. I'm...
