The Roost is a really nice place sure beats staying at the Marriott with all those blue and white collar workers. We decided to get away for a few days and headed to the city but I gotta be honest with $430 a night is a little steep for what you get we stayed in a one bedroom apartment, 508 which overlooks the pool and east market. The view was pretty nice but nothing special, would have really liked staying in an apartment that faced market Street !!
Check in was breeze and the front desk staff were very gracious, kind, and professional people that live in the building tenants staff, as well as just guests were all very nice. A short wisp up the elevator, and we are at our apartment. First impressions were mixed while the apartment is spacious we found some things that just make you wonder for $430 a night this apartment should be crisp fresh and welcoming unfortunately we found some things that were very disappointing. First of all the hardwood floors were dirty clearly housekeeping isn’t cleaning these hardwood floors and keeping them pristine, there are three area rugs in the apartment one in the living room. One in the bedroom and one in the laundry room all three of those area rugs were dirty and worn out and need to be replaced. I was really surprised that you would allow such a rug to stay in such a nice apartment, I guess the money that’s being spent in these apartments is not being used to keep up these apartments. The bathroom was very disappointing and somewhat gross. The floor looks like it hasn’t been scrubbed in 10 years. It used to have white grout on the floor between the tiles, but that has turned to dirt and mold, The shower used to have white grout, but that has been neglected and so and bacteria has now taken residence to the walls. It’s somewhat disgusting to think that you’re spending all this money and the place is not very well. Kept the washroom. Had this old musky smell to it like an old closet again uninviting there was also a chair in the living room that kind of looked out of place and had a reading like next to it. The chair was dirty stained and had a bad smell to it.
The best part of the apartment was the kitchen. It was well appointed the refrigerator looked brand new and the stove was really nice. It had everything in it that you could possibly need to cook a meal unfortunately, the dishwasher didn’t work. You would turn it on you would set the time and then for whatever reason you shut the door, it would turn itself off It didn’t really make any sense. Some other things that we didn’t care for were the bed. It was like sleeping on a washboard, very uncomfortable and very firm. Also very low to the floor. The living room has a brown leather couch. Also very low to the floor and very uncomfortable to not very inviting some of the other things that didn’t make sense was a telephone that had no dial tone as well as an Apple TV remote but no Apple TV. The coffee in the air tight jar was a nice gesture but honestly for the amount of money that I spent $1200 for 2 1/2 days, you should give me at least a pound of Starbucks coffee. One other thing to note that was really annoying was the air conditioner it was super loud and sounded like a freight train. Every time it started. It was either full blast or off. There were no way to set the fan.
overall, it was a mixed bag staying here. I expect it an amazing apartment unfortunately I was disappointed by how dirty it was. Check out the pictures but in all honesty management needs to stop pocketing the money and start putting it back into these apartments !!! better yet you should give me a partial refund for subjecting me, and my fiancé to such a dirty...
Read moreStayed at ROOST East Market for two nights when I was visiting with a girlfriend to see a concert.
First, the hotel is spectacularly clean and the staff is insanely courteous and helpful. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived - I think we arrived before check-in - but they let us relax on their third floor, which has access to the pool, business center, several relaxing open living room spaces for work, a chic library, and a full kitchen. They also gave us some recommendations on local places to check-out if we wanted to get out and walk. When our room was ready, Alex (I think that's his name) personally came and informed us that our room was ready and our luggage was already in our room.
Second, the guest room was huge - it felt like a home away from home, only the guest room we were staying in was way nicer than my home and I could have moved into our guest room that second. We were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite with two bathrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen (though the living room and bathroom come with every guest room). The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has anything you'd ever need - champagne glasses, pots, pants, utensils, etc. - smart appliances were everywhere so you could plug in your phone, and the decor was really modern and stylish.
Third, and this is my favorite, the products they stock in their bathrooms are salon quality. They have Davines shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. I made sure to ask for a second set before leaving because they are just that good. The fact that they invest that much in their amenities just made our experience that more luxurious!
Lastly, the location is perfect. You're right across the street to great lunch spots, a supermarket, a pharmacy, and an ice cream shop, but you're also in walking distance to some of Philly's best tourist destinations - I don't think we had to walk more than 15 minutes to get anywhere. Also, since it is such a central location, you have access to tons of taxis if you need a ride anywhere.
All-in-all, the hotel clearly puts a lot of effort into making sure their guests are comfortable and provided with anything and everything they would need to have a good experience. If you're looking for a place to stay that feels like an upgraded version of your home, stay at the ROOST...
Read moreIf you're staying in Philly for more than a week, strongly consider staying at the Roost East Market. I was in Philly for 3 months for business and when I tell you this was one of THE best stays I have experience believe me. My mom was the one that found this place first. She called and had a conversation with Chelsea, the manager of the hotel/apartment letting her know I needed a place to stay. Instead of waiting on me to call, Chelsea called me and told me her and her team was looking forward to seeing me tomorrow morning. They were already welcoming and I hadn't even left the current hotel I was staying at! And yes, there are other hotels/extended stay lodging around the city, but I bet their management staff isn't as professional AND respectful as the group at Roost East Market. Ella was the person that dealt with me the most. She was flat out AWESOME. I've had family and friend come visit me and everyone had nothing but nice things to say about Ella. She treated my guest like they were the ones staying for the 3 months. Ella alone deserves 5 stars! But about the hotel/apartment. It has enough room for you to stretch out and feel at home. Washer and dryer unit in the room. Bathroom has enough space. A lot of natural sun light coming through the windows. GAS, you heard me, GAS stove. Top of the line kitchen appliances like Fisher Paykel and Bosch. Everyone has a chance to use the amenities. They have 2 workout rooms (yoga/pilates room & regular workout room). Theater room with comfortable chairs and big projector screen. 3 lounging areas ( one is a green room and has nothing but beautiful plants!). Roof top pool on one side and a roof top patio on the other. A common kitchen area. And if I left out anything from this great staff and establishment, my apologies. I've enjoyed my 3 months here, and if I ever come back to Philly 10/10, I'm staying here. Would refer all family, friends, coworkers...
