If you find yourself in downtown Phoenix, this spot should be on your culinary itinerary especially given its prime location directly across from the Phoenix Arena. This review comes after my second visit, and both times the kitchen delivered memorable plates. On my first trip, we ordered the lobster and shrimp mac and cheese an indulgent, decadent dish with rich, creamy layers. While the shrimp felt like a pleasant but nonessential addition, the lobster shone and could have carried the dish on its own. On our return visit, the star of the menu made itself known: Tom’s Prime Rib Dip. Imagine a refined take on the classic French dip perfectly seasoned prime rib that leans slightly salty, paired with an au jus that is more reminiscent of a light, savory gravy. The balance works beautifully, with each bite offering depth and comfort in equal measure. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu, but these two dishes alone are reason enough to stop in. Read moreFood wasn't stellar. Wings tasted like they was from Tyson or something. Nothing special at all. The happy hour with the $4 wine was solid. I would come back for that. But the hummus plate was very much mid. Nothing special and the person I came with stated the same. We would not return for food. The tvs were great as I saw atleast 30 of them in the venue. Service was not up to standard. Felt rushed by the staff and the place wasn't busy. So I gave 3 stars because I know they can do better. Atmosphere based on the tv set up gets 4 stars. Wasn't a lot of ppl in the venue but I can imagine on football game day or baseball it would be more lively. Food got 2 stars because the price is certainly high and the quality is low. I would only go 1 star if the food wasn't...
Read moreFinally made it in to Tom's Watch Bar at Chase. Admittedly, I was optimistic but maybe a bit skeptical - sometimes these big venue spots kinda disappoint. Was never a fan of Chase Field Friday's. Blech.
Anyway, the whole experience was totally above-the-bar. Pretty Impressed.
We were going basic, but my super bubbly (okay, and terribly cute/funny) waitress Armani talked me into the Birria deep-dish nacho things ... and she was right. Dopeee. Great server along with her partner-in-crime, Jesse totally made it fun for our crew. Wings were pretty effing good, too, as a side note. That is a deal-breaker if a place fails the wings. Tom's showed out ... We'll be back.
I'd tell you more, but I may have had a few drafts and maybe some shots. Hard to...
