First time here. Decided to have breakfast here. The outside of the building is very eye appealing and the inside is just as beautiful. The building has been restored to perfection.
Unfortunately, I didn't find the food to be of the same caliber. The food was not bad...it was adequate.
I had the meat lover's skillet. which was rather dry. There were too many potatoes and not enough egg and cheese, which would have added moisture to the dish.
To be fair, I have to say the person I was with had the apple banana waffle and said it excellent.
The server was very friendly but not a good judge on where to sit people. There was only one other couple in the place when we arrived shortly after opening and sat us in the booth behind them. No issue. However, the next group to arrive was a couple with two small children. Instead of sitting them in a section away from those having conversation, she put them directly behind us... the rest of the meal all we had was children talking extremely loudly and parents who ignored them. If that was the only table available, I would have no issue. But you had an entire empty restaurant... kids will be kids. But those past the "kid stage" of life just want a quiet breakfast too!
Would I go back here. Yes, I would give it a second shot. That experience will determine if I would go...
Read moreThis small cafe is in an old building with creaky wood floors and an enclosed porch with windows looking out onto Bridge Street, the main drag in Phoenixville; a lot of atmosphere.
There are no shades on the porch windows so if you’re there before 8:30AM you either have the sun in your eyes or on your back. At the moment (May 2024) they’re only open for breakfast and lunch but there are plans to open for dinner. Best to check their hours before going. Sundays between 9:30AM & Noon are very crowded. I was there for breakfast on a Tuesday.
I had two eggs with corned beef hash, home fries, rye toast and coffee. They run a different special every day. On Tuesdays it’s free coffee with any meal. SCORE!
The eggs were properly cooked to medium. The hash was not homemade but tasty. The home fries had no seasoning and were somewhat dry. The toast was served dry with individual containers of butter. I think this is a good idea as many people want to control the amount of butter on their toast.
They have no parking lot so you must park on the street which can be a challenge. The steps up to the porch are short but steep. I was told there’s another entrance for people who can’t negotiate the steps.
My server, Christine, was very attentive and pleasant.

Read moreThis place has potential, but fell down in a few key areas. First of all, the cafe is very nice. The service was also very friendly and attentive.
The food was decent but it needed improvement in a couple of areas. First of all I had ordered multigrain toast but received whole wheat toast that was cold and unbuttered. Maybe it was multigrain as there were a few seeds on it, but nothing like real multigrain toast that I have gotten at other places. The Omelette I ordered was fine but nothing remarkable. The hash browns were done well, but had no special seasoning or other ingredients.
Next, I did not like the fact that they had very small coffee cups. In my opinion, in order to be a really good Cafe, you need to have a decent size mug so I don't have to chase the waiter/ waitress down for a refill.
Lastly, The booth I sat and the floor around it were not cleaned well with bits of food scattered about. This is understandable on the floor as it may have been busy in the morning, but there is really no excuse for crumbs on the table or seat. In addition, the table was sticky and so were the floors.
I do not want this to sound overly critical, as I know it is hard to run a restaurant. I will give this place another try, and I hope it is...
