The first thing I noticed when I got here, I can immediately tell that ownership has changed. I asked the server and yes she was able to confirm, but said the kitchen was the same. This place was owned and operated by a Cuban owner, who was always present and ensured standards were up to par and the staff was on point. It is now owned by a Dominican owner and as soon as you walk in music is loudly playing. No one wants to go eat and listen to bachata or loud music playing like it's a club or bar for breakfast. When ordering, they automatically take it upon themselves to give you a large without asking you. I ordered a cafe con leche and it was cold and more milk than anything else and of course they gave me their large (upcharge). I returned it immediately, the server did offer to reheat it, but I want fresh hot coffee, not reheated coffee. The food was good. We ordered Pan con Bistec, Media Noche, Tres Golpes and The Hot Cake Combo. The eggs on the hotcake combo were not good and the Mangu was lumpy and dried. The sandwiches were good. My son ordered an orange juice, again, they brought the large, and that is not a problem. The problem came when the check came, it was $8.50 for 16 ounces. When I asked about that ridiculous price, the server opened the menu and said, the price is on the menu. Ok, you know when you sit down and they get your drink order first, and then come back for the food order. That's what happened, coffee, water and orange juice, before we even looked at the menu. $8.50 really!!! "With no Vaseline, just a match and a little bit of gasoline" as Cube said!! I really liked this place before the ownership change. Needless to say, I will never be back. One other thing, they slap a 15% service charge automatically, whether you intend on tipping or not. Please be aware and...
Read moreWe choose this place based on an article of "Only in Fl" ,we asked the employee if beside the food cafeteria style if they had a menu and she told us to have a seat and she will be with us. This employee was very nice and pleasant but we weren't ready to order so I asked for a beef empanada until we decide what to order. The next employee that came was a different story, rude and impatient. The empanada was very good, the rest of the food was ok, big portions and fresh, one of the entrees was fried pork chunks with white rice, black beans and casaba (yuca) it came with yellow plantains no yuca and I still waiting for the black beans. The server never came back to bring the beans or check on us I had to go and paid at the counter, I noticed a 18% service charge on the bill and a space for tip so I questioned it and she said that is the tip. Now I understand what the service was so bad because no matter how yo you get treated they charged you 18% "service charge ". Out of three employees that we interacted only the first was nice and pleasant, if we had our food from the cafeteria line we probably never experienced the bad service, with so many restaurants in Orlando never...
Read moreI had very high hopes for this place. It was horrible. First, I only had breakfast and it was the worst empanada I’ve ever had. I ended up eating the dough and couldn’t get myself to eat the beef although I love beef. Mind you, I had ordered a chicken empanada and they gave me a beef. When I said something about it the lady never apologized she actually asked me with an attitude if I wanted her to change it. I said no it was fine. The coffee had no flavor. The place looks dirty and old. Not a good atmosphere. Also, when I paid for my coffee, empanada, and two tequeños the lady asked me if I wanted to tip. I am always a big tipper which that was not the problem. The issue was in the way that she asked which makes you feel like you can’t say no. I tipped when I paid although it was to go and will never be back. The WORST PART is that the little beef in the empanada made me so sick. Like if I had just eating something rotten. I had to tun to the Target restroom that’s all I...
