Lula Bánh Mì and Bakery (Pineville) — Restaurant in Pineville

Lula’s first came onto my radar about a year ago. They catered a family function that was unexpected but they delivered excellence in their food that gave a lot of comfort.

I don’t live in Charlotte but was in town for my friends’ wedding so decided that I’d like to give this spot a try on a rainy and cold day. Man, I was not disappointed.

It’s a mom and pop restaurant in an unassuming location. The space is clean and inviting. It looks a lot like other bubble tea shops or chains. However, that’s where I would end the comparison.

Food is made fresh and in house. It’s unpretentious, flavorful, and just plain delicious. But this doesn’t really do justice to this spot. It’s more than just the food. It’s more than just the service (very friendly, warm, professional, and other great qualities). I felt at home.

I’ve never met these people before; but when ordering, sitting down waiting for my food, listening in on how they interacted with customers coming in 10:30am on a rainy Sunday (regulars, some that work in the neighboring businesses) everything just feels right.

There’s only so many hours in the day, so many dollars in your pocket, and many many many restaurants to choose from in Charlotte, but if you feel like getting a bite to eat, consider visiting here. Consider supporting a small locally owned and operated family business.

You may not have the warm and fuzzies I felt when getting a grilled pork sandwich and Vietnamese iced coffee but the food is legit. It’ll definitely fill your belly and delight your tastebuds but don’t be surprised if you get a fill of something else that you didn’t know you were missing. A...

Awesome authentic Vietnamese food in Pineville! Everything that I have order have been amazing! Definitely give this place a try and support a local business.

The Lemongrass Pork and Rice is delicious. Pay extra for that egg you will not regret it. Perfectly seasoned and savory everytime! The numerous Banh Mi selection are all so good that deciding what you want is so hard. I'm surprised that this place is only a cafe setup. They always usually have ready made take out spring roll wraps if you just want to drop by. The bubble drink taste great too lots of flavor. The food is always fresh and hot dine in or order out. The one star was take off for wait time when dining in. I normally just order ahead on their site for takeout to avoid the wait. FYI, if you see the Bao Buns available grab them cause they are the best in the Charlotte area!

The only thing that I have not enjoyed here are the macaroons just too sweet but I don't really care for sugary sweets anyway. BTW, do not believe there is a restroom...

We got a cold cut classic, a grilled pork, and a pork belly banh mi along with a vanilla and a red velvet cupcake and everything was delicious.

The baguette for the banh mi had that perfectly crispy crust but was light and fluffy. The grilled pork had a great sweet and savory flavor and all the fixings were great as well. The flavor of everything was on point and exactly what you'd expect from an awesome banh mi place.

While the banh mis were awesome please do NOT sleep on their desserts. The guy at the counter recommended a vanilla cupcake and let me tell you that this is easily one of the best cupcakes I've eaten. The texture of the cupcake was so light and fluffy and it wasn't overly sweet. The same goes for the icing. It's not like the thick icing you normally have on cupcakes. The texture is the perfect balance of icing and whipped cream and again is not super sweet but will certainly satisfy a sweet tooth.
