Tonight was HK Dim Sum! If you know us you know we tend to love all forms of Asian food. We started off with the mango slush drink and the super fruit tea. I liked the mango slush it was a mango puree with actual mango bits and ice, it was super refreshing! Clare’s super fruit tea was definitely fruity, she got it less sweet to cut back on the sugar, solid drink choices!
We started with the scallion pancakes, pork and shrimp shumai, and the beef rice noodle. The scallion pancakes here were excellent, great texture, good crunch, not overly greasy, and the dipping sauce that it came with was incredible. Definitely one of the better ones we have had.
The pork and shrimp shumai was super tasty. The shrimp roe on top was a nice touch, the dumpling itself was great, nice bounce to it, the shrimp has a nice bite to it as well and the pork was really flavorful. This was one of the dishes I enjoyed the most but my wife liked it a little less.
The beef rice noodle was a new thing for us. The noodles are wide and flat, they’re pretty thin and then rolled around the slice of beef. The texture was like a soft very smooth noodle. I had a little texture problem with it and the flavor was not it for me. My wife however adored this dish and wants more of it!
We then ordered a special not on the menu, the beef ho fun. This was definitely the star. It’s fresh, the noodles had a great texture and chew, the garlic sauce was so good and soaked into everything. The veggies weren’t over cooked so they had a nice bite to them and the onions were so crunchy. This was definitely the star of the night for both of us! Highly recommend.
For dessert we ordered the Cantonese sponge cake, while we waited the brought out complimentary strawberry milk jelly. It had a strong milk flavor, and jello like consistency. It was good, but strawberry isn’t either of our favorite flavor, if it was chocolate I wouldn’t have been able to stop myself from eating it. The sponge cake comes out steamed and hot. It was super soft and tasted like a very nice not overly sweet cake. It would be perfect with a little extra sugar or maybe some ice cream! Definitely tasty and a nice end to the meal.
Overall we definitely liked it here and want to come back to try more dishes. I want to try some of the more traditional dishes but didn’t have room for them tonight...
Read moreThe Lemon Water, let's start there❣️
All too often, I will leave the water served at restaurants untouched because the taste of municipal delivered tap disgusts me. Sometimes I have to ask for lemon to avoid dehydration during a meal. They won right there !
This new establishment is swanky and modern and buried in the heart of North Oakland (walkable from campus) on Centre Ave. And worth the walk!
Everything was delicious!!!! Served within 15 minutes or less of ordering. The only thing missing from the authentic experience was the hot rolling cart for customers to choose a la carte from, but that's understandable during a low traffic time. I will definitely be back for more and won't be surprised to see this place bustling with lines out the door because the food is PHENOMENAL!

Can't Wait to come back!
10 out of 10; I do agree with others who say it's a little pricier per dim sum order, but in today's...
Read moreOur friend “warned” us this might be a disappointing experience, but we decided to give it a try anyway.
In short: it’s okay. Don’t come expecting an authentic dim sum experience. The menu even mixes in some noodle soups that feel like a blend of Japanese, Chinese, and maybe something else altogether (never been to a dim sum place that has tonkatsu noodle soup on the menu lol)
We also ordered some steamed pork ribs and the shrimp rice rolls. They weren’t terrible, but definitely not great and far from authentic. The menu overall is pretty limited.
They did give us a free butterfly pea milk tea with flavored jelly. Honestly, glad we didn’t pay for it because it wouldn’t have been worth the price (it tastes good, but just don’t worth the money)
On the plus side, the environment is comfortable and nicely set up.
Overall, we probably wouldn’t come back unless we’re REALLY craving dim sum and have no other options...
