Firstly, let's clear the air: I'm a friend of the restaurant. But trust me, my love for solid food and meticulous detail keeps my opinion unbiased.
Number 1: When you step in, the wait staff welcomes you or your group, making you feel at home with genuine smiles and solid eye contact. The friendly vibe sets the tone, even if there's a short wait. While I have a soft spot for the outdoor seating, the interior decor is a masterpiece. Every detail, from the silverware and plates to the fresh flowers and candles (when did you last see that?), adds a one-of-a-kind touch to your dining experience.
Number 2: The bread service? It was generous and pleasantly unexpected for a place of this caliber. LILITH goes above and beyond. And the appetizers and entrees? "Good" doesn't even begin to describe them; we need new words in the English vocabulary. The Yucca Pierogies and Tuna Tartare (yes, even this far from Delaware Bay) are out of this world. Save room for dessert—Baked Alaska and Peach Frangipane Tart will take you to planet Pluto and back to your restaurant seat.
While filling up on the bread is tempting, I recommend sharing everything on the menu with friends. This way, you get to sample various dishes, enhancing the dining experience and making it more memorable.
Number 3: Lilith is a rising star in the culinary world, and it's only getting better. I can't wait to see where it goes next. Our city is incredibly fortunate to have a place of this high grade. Lilith is not just a restaurant; it's becoming a landmark, a solid institution that sets the bar high for future dining experiences in Pittsburgh. I'm thrilled to be part of its journey and watch...
Read moreWe have been to Lilith many times, but on our visit recently we brought good friends who had never been there. Long story short, our guests have quickly placed Lilith (with chefs Jamilka and Dianne) as their favorite restaurant in all of Pittsburgh. And they have been to nearly all of them.
For apps, we started with the lobster rolls, the fall salad and the octopus. All were A+ amazing, along with the incredible fresh warm bread and yummy spreads. Every time we have been at Lilith, we think we could just keep eating appetizers and Dianne’s incredible breads! But that would be too easy (but so so good). So we left some room for entrees.
We had the butternut squash raviolis, the halibut, and the Loup. The raviolis were quickly voted some of the best of all time. But right up there was the halibut (not an easy fish for a chef to knock out of the park, but they did!). And not to be outdone, the Loup (recipe formulated by Jamilka), which I have never had before, was so interestingly delicious. It was excellent, crispy but succulent with a wonderful light sauce, and as good a piece of fish as I have had. Oh my.
Dianne’s Desserts, as always, finished this great meal with several amazing sweet takes. The baked Alaska, hot toffee cake, and chocolate torte were each prepared with utmost care and were the perfect ending to our meal.
Service was perfect from start to finish. A totally fun night!
As always, Lilith was off the charts!!!! Can’t say enough about our visit!! And looking forward to...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner at Lilith with friends recently. We have had the pleasure of eating there before. I can sum up our experience each time in three words -- "Off The Charts!" Well worth the wait for a reservation (Lilith is a hot spot, in high demand).
This is a warm and welcoming restaurant from the moment you arrive. In their cozy, inviting space, chef-owners Jamilka and Dianne have generated a charming tone and wonderful buzz. The attentive staff is very helpful but not at all intrusive. From kitchen to bar to table, they blend to make your visit memorable.
Three of our party ordered the special cocktail of the night, a ramp-infused, dirty martini that was a first of its kind for us, and oh so tasty. Glasses of wine were very good. The food is exceptional, as the owner-chefs curate a well-conceived, fresh menu of wonderful starters, mains and desserts. The warm table bread is a great start. We then had the famous lobster rolls, tuna tartare, oysters and several other yummy appetizers, the delicious skate and tagliatelle entrees, and four or five of Dianne's incredible desserts including the awesome baked alaska and sticky toffee pudding. As I write this, I am starving and ready to return! What an amazing visit! Lilith is a don't miss! Thank you, Jamilka and Dianne! OFF...
