Such a reputed restaurant but this is absolutely waste of time and money.
Its coming from someone who eats and reviews all places at least 10-15 times every month sometimes more. I will give my honest opinion and experience, and i hope someone in power reads it and does something about it. I will talk about price, ambience, staff, serving utensils, food quality and quantity.
Price: The food price avg is like $20 curries and $19 biriyanis and naans are like $6 each, but they charge a 20% gratuity plus tax plus tip is obviously expected lets assume we give a 20% tip so the math is: if you order a curry and a biriyani and 2-3 naans, your cost of food is say $57. Now add compulsory payment 20% gratuity and tax(11.40+4.70)+optional suggested tip 20%(11.40). So you spending $84.50 - Just one curry 2-3 naans and a biriyani. Now you can decide its steep or not given one curry rotis and one biriyani. Now i dont mind paying but i should not feel that this pay is for following.... Give it a read...
The Ambience: Tables, chairs are extremely average, i would say below average given the charges above, and ambience is as soon as u enter there is a small bar and on left these tables chairs and people standing in front of reception for waiting if place is full. Like pretty much extremely average.
Staff: Staff looked polite but untrained. Receiving the guests was Ok and giving them seat but as soon as u enter they give plastic glasses to a proper 8yr old kid and below and absolutely basic table mats and water glasses, and for 10-15 mins no water is served, no jug of water is even there, its all kept in bar, you keep waiting for the staff to see you to serve water. Come on put a water jug in every table.. how much will it cost? And dont assume that kids will break your glasses if you dont want to give them glass ask them.. dont treat them different by giving them a plastic glasses by default. And this plastic glass is a pathetic quality plastic glass. So the staff is either scarce or untrained at least order taking or serving staff. Reception staff were ok.
Serving/Eating Utensils: I swear i have not seen worse utensils in my 10 yrs of restaurant eating, plain white round plates. Come on if you are charging us the above keep some good quality plates. Absolutely i am sorry to use the word but "pathetic" plates. Our homes might have better. In the picture presentation your plating speaks different than reality. Biriyani was bought in a closed white pot extremely below average cutleries. We asked if there are any fresh juices they said apple guava etc etc and we just said give apple, so they served that juice in a hard plastic glass. Imagine please... and this was not fresh at all. Very very very poor starting.
Food Quality & Quantity Biriyani looks extremely basic just a show off in a small utensil with flour around, which when you open is having white rice large uncooked chicken, in one pot of biriyani absolutely no salan or gravy, simple white rice, i counted 8 green chillis, and just tasting like black peppered rice, absolutely no flavor, no saffron no color and no life. Confidently, worst biriyani of my entire life so far. Quantity also is supremely less almost i can say 1/2 of what you will get in bawarchi or any normal place. Very small utensil, very less quantity, and no life.... Curry quantity was decent but very average taste, same for Naan they charge $6 for a naan, its not the best naan I have had extremely average.
I hope they justify the brand because for me it was a disaster. No wonder they have a 3.7* it should be 1-2* in my opinion.
Hope this...
Read moreWhen we entered, the bartender saw us but didn't greet us and simply turned away. The hostess didn't even notice us because she was hunched over at the podium and on the phone. Thankfully a server came over, asked us if we had a reservation, and promptly seated us. He was polite and friendly. The folks seated next to us were obnoxious and we asked to be shifted to another table. The second table had a different server and he too was polite and friendly. The few other staff who came to our table were really not fit to serve in any customer service job. They were without a smile and curt. Definitely, this establishment which associates with a celebrity chef should train their staff. The two servers really saved the night.
The decor and ambiance are quite good but the tables are relatively close to one another. The podium where the hostess was standing was missing the first letter in the restaurant name! When making the reservation, I indicated that a birthday was the special occasion. However, no one asked about it nor was anything done about it. Perhaps the online reservation system doesn't save this or no one paid attention to it.
For two of us, we ordered one appetizer, a vodka drink, two curries (Adraki Paneer and Subz Panchvati), one daal, and one dessert. The raw banana cutlets were well made but lacked flavor. The kitchen didn't send the chutneys with the dish and my wife had to ask. The server apologized for it. The drink had a $4 upcharge for Absolut Vodka. For $18, it barely had any alcohol and the quantity was half that of a typical restaurant. My wife said that the quality of the paneer was really good. Both curries were low on salt and the mixed veg curry was also low on flavor! The Lalla Mussa daal had an excessive amount of masala. Thankfully the roti and lacha paratha were good. The shahi tukda (bread pudding) was yummy and the saving grace.
For $65 a person (including taxes and tip) and considering Sanjeev Kapoor's name, we expected a little more in service and taste. Ultimately, we may give this place another try but we'll think very hard...
Read moreFebruary 2022 I’d been wanting to try out this restaurant for a long time and that day finally came one fine weekend. We made reservations so that there would be no hiccups (there’s a $10/person cancellation fees for no shows and they hold your table for 10 minutes from the time of the reservation). This decor is modern with bright lights all around, a decently sized bar area and Indian music playing in the background (the music, however, was a little random). The restaurant feels classy and is comparable to other high end restaurants.
Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we were seated in the bar area to check out the menu and order a few drinks if we wished, and that’s EXACTLY what we did. My friends ordered Indian mule and I went for the classic old fashioned. The bartender was knowledgeable and very helpful. I wanted my base to have a spicy note so he suggested me a few options and I appreciated that.
For appetizers, we started with Masala Papad which was pretty good. The green chutney that is served on the table was fantastic. We then ordered the Harippa Paneer Tikka (it was cooked to perfection and the paneer just melted in our mouths) and Chatpatta Seekh Kebab (A mix of minced chicken and lamb). They were all fantastic and flavorful and we all loved it.
For main course, we went with Shaam Savera (A blend of cottage cheese with spinach and tomato gravy as its base) and garlic naan. To be honest, this was a little disappointing since the tomato gravy was on the sweeter side. We slowly but surely crept our way to the desert section. We ordered - Gulab-e-Gulkand, Rasmalai and Sahi Tukda. We all felt the deserts were the show stoppers and let me just put it out there, the gulab jamun is one chunky boi. It’s HUGEEE. The presentation was just perfect and the taste was rich.
The prices are a little on the expensive side but the quality, presentation and the taste of the food justify the expensive price tag. The service was impeccable, the food, delicious, and I’d easily recommend this place for anyone to enjoy a good evening with friends and...
