Rosa's Cafe is an excellent alternative to a sit down restaurant, as no tip is expected. Great food at a reasonable price. Salsa bar is neatly arranged and very clean. I do hope they are not going to disposable plastic forks, knives, and spoons like Taco Cabana is!!! This place is far too nice for that. Also, the Mariachi style old fashioned music of Mexico, WHICH I LIKE, is always playing. If you have heard music by Sylvestre Vargas, a legendary famous Mariachi band in Mexico who has made many legendary recordings back in the 1960's, you have a good idea on the music they play here. Modern day Tejano accordion music is SUPER ANNOYING, AND TACO CABANA ALONG WITH EL FENIX PLAY THAT KIND OF MUSIC!!! In the attached photo is one of the cheerfully decorative Spanish style tile pattern tables in their dining room, which reminds me of Chili's old tables. Take a look at the many other pictures posted of this Rosa's Cafe of the highly decorated dining area. (I feel lazy right now and don't want to take any other pictures right now.) Give this place a try if you like Mexican food and are in this area. By the way, the Taco Tuesday special is 3 tacos of your choice, refried beans, and Spanish rice for $7.13 including sales tax. Soft drinks, tea, or alcoholic beverages cost extra. The flour tortillas are made in the restaurant from scratch; there is an industrial giant HOBART brand dough mixer, a "dough ball making machine, and a hot grilling surface in the form of a rotating horizontal disc to freshly bake the tortillas. You can see this equipment in a window beside the drink station and order pick up counter. You can get a dozen flour tortillas, fresh made for $4.32 and they are so good, especially while they are still hot and have melted butter on them. Are you tempted and hungry yet? Thanks for...
Read moreThe venue is fantastic, it seems that you have entered into a mexican Disneyland, so colorful so cozy. The first issue was the shock to realize that the service is like a fast food restaurant and not a regular restaurant where you are seated and order from a menu. They display their dishes on huge colorful pictures altogether with the name of the dish, however this wasn't very helpful because the cashier confused our order of "fajita fiesta combo" with "fiesta salad combo". It was probably the hugest bowl of shredded lettuce i have ever seen on my entire life and the most expensive i have ever paid. I cannot stress enough how disappointed we are for having a salad instead of what we were aiming to get. Whilst they have "Tortilla factory" on their name, we didn't see a single tortilla on our visit, and BTW who would like to eat tortillas with shredded lettuce? IMHO they should immediately rename their dishes so their cashiers cannot confuse "fajita fiesta combo" with "fiesta salad combo". Update: We returned the next day to have our "fajita fiesta combo". They naming many items on their menu after "fiesta" is definitively an issue, because our order was about to be misplaced again even if you pin point the picture to the cashier, it seems that it's difficult for them to choose on their system which "fiesta" you actually want. Why you don't name items after something else like "pachanga", "jolgorio", "juerga" or "guateque" to avoid confusions? Coming back to the "fajita fiesta combo", it was great and we were finally able to meet their delicious...
Read moreThe promo said Taco Tuesday, but it should have said amateur hour. Ordered three taco platters ($5 each more or less), a kids meal ($4), a large drink, and two waters. The bill? $11 and change. That can't be right I said. "No, it is right." said the employee. I paid. Went to the table and look at the receipt - it's wrong.
Go back to the registers and tell the young lady that she did not charge me enough. She calls over a coworker who examines the receipt and proclaims that: "The drinks are not a part of the meals." No, I explained, you did not charge enough. There are THREE taco platters and it looks like you charged for one. Not so he maintains and then reads the receipt for the first time, I guess. You need to charge him for two more meals he tells the young lady. "NO," she says, "I did it right."
A manager is called who proclaims that I just need to tell them what I want. Silly me, I thought that I did. Finally got it straight and went out to the table. No ice in the drink machines in front. Only a little in the back. "We're really busy." was the response when I reported the problem.
Against my better judgement and because the wife and daughter wanted them, we ordered sopapillas. Only took about 25 minutes to get them out.
Maybe I need to try somewhere else for a while and let them do some training before...
