Great service, amazing prices, and food is tasty. Will definitely return. Unfortunate they don't do reservations though. Update: We decided to bring my mom here for her birthday. Party of 9. We were told, still no reservations. That's fine. Waited over an hour, got seated, and the waitress had zero tact. She was clearly mad about getting us in her section and spent a good 5 minutes explaining her argument to us about why it didn't make sense that they put us in her section. Appetizer arrives, no plates to serve ourselves from any of it. Bear in mind its a long table and only maybe 4 people could reach it in the center. Ordered food, waitress took the menus, put in the order, comes back to tell us they have no carrots, which 3 people had ordered. Again, no biggie. Dad requests a menu again, as he hasn't memorized it in the ONE time he's seen it. She exhales loudly, ROLLS her eyes, and goes to get a menu. She was very short with him when he reordered as well. Everyone brushed it off, as we were trying to have a good time. 30 minutes after being seated, she finally brings the croissants we'd asked for... 3 times. Food comes out, everything was delicious as usual and server is nowhere to be seen again for a good long while. Multiple empty drinks since BEFORE the food even came out. I pressed the call button on the machine and 10 minutes later she comes over with to go boxes (nobody was done eating) and snaps at me to turn off the call because it was distracting. I told her we needed refills and she rolled her eyes yet again. By the end of the meal, she tried to get friendlier as time to pay was approaching. Everyone was over it, and she tried to make small talk with me about how she was studying to get a degree in hospitality. LOL 😆 She may want to pick a different field. She treated us like a burden the entire time. The embarrassing thing was I'd hyped this place up to everyone and even though the food was good, her service...
Read moreI grew up with a Grandma born and raised in Arkansas. Visited her when she lived in Tulsa, OK. My last 2 kids were born in South Carolina while I spent 7 years living there. All that to say, I know Southern cooking.
Cheddar's is pseudo-southern cooking...
Service was excellent, friendly, fast with beverage refills, and responsive to requests. Tip your servers well, they deserve it.
The fried cheese curd appetizers were on par with many places in Wisconsin, that is to say, tasty, but nothing to rave about.
I ordered country fried chicken with Mashed potatoes and, "Southern Style" green beans.
The chicken was crispy and cooked well. The breading was a bit bland, but edible. The mashed potatoes were very over-mashed and tasted...well.. like plain potatoes. The white grave had little seasoning so it didn't add much to the overall plate.
The green beans were unlike anything I've ever had in the south. With the term, "Southern style" added to green beans, I had visions of beans with bacon (or ham) added, onions, and lots of black pepper. Other than fresh off the vine, good Southern green beans can't be beat.
These beans were... not Southern. No ham or bacon to be found, a few onions, and a substantial amount of sugar. I'm not a fan of sweet tea, but thats basically the flavor of these beans. I don't often leave food, but these didn't even make it to the take away container.
The unsweetened tea was decent.
My wife had the lemon pepper chicken with corn and broccoli.
Her comment was, " The chicken was alright." The broccoli was heated from frozen as was the corn (again, with sugar added).
Overall, a swing and...
Read moreWe love coming here. Have never been disappointed. I am not sure what is going on with this location. We arrived at 3:45 PM. We were told it was a 25-minute wait. It 4:30 p.m. we went back inside to find out where we were in line. The hostess with a lot of attitude told us that it would be an additional 45 minute wait because a server was on break. And they did not have enough staff. All of the tables in the bar area were completely empty. I went back outside speak to my family one family member needed to be at work later on that day. We decided to go in and eat at the bar considering we were going to have to wait longer for a table. There were five of us. The bartender was very courteous and attended to us quickly. We were very disappointed to find out that they were out of ribeye steaks. We all ordered. My step-son ordered a top sirloin steak as well as I did. They were both to be done medium. My steak was more medium rare in his steak was well done. Shortly after getting our food the hostess called us for our table. We went over to her to tell her that we had already told her we were sitting in the bar. She got very snippy with us and said that you should have told us we had to turn away people because we thought you still needed a table for five. Again this was not the case we told her to take us off the list and that we were going to be eating in the bar. Not sure where the manager was, we did ask to speak to one at that point one never arrived. I'm not understanding what's going on at this location. Food is always great service is always great something was...
