Such a bad experience picking up food from here today. I ordered 60 dollars worth of food for my family to pick up. I got there and they were very busy, so I was completely understanding that my food might not be ready. I went to the counter, there was a girl there who refused to look at me even though she wasn’t helping anybody else just standing there with her arms crossed. The man asked how he could help so I said I’m picking up an order and gave my name. She cut him off to say she could go grab that, it’s in the back, so I figured great wow it’s ready. She comes back a while later, still refuses to address me or look at me, throws her hands up in The air and says, “it’s still back there” to the man. Nothing else. The man working there then turned to me and said it would just be a few minutes they’d let me know. Ok great! I waited until I realized it’d been 15 minutes, and then I noticed there were a few food bags sitting to the far left, behind the hostess stand with order tickets taped to them. I asked the girl, “could that be my order over there?” As it’s been a while now and I’ve heard nothing. She looks at me blankly and says “you can go check. I don’t know your name or what you ordered”. Then crossed her arms and turned away from me. Honestly I was shocked by what she said and the way she said it. She acknowledged my name and order before when talking to the man and her, and he said they’d let me know. When it wasn’t ready before, she could have said then where the orders get placed and to look out for my own order, I’d have been happy to. There’s no signs or anything indicating where online orders are placed or that we are allowed to just go past the hostess stand and get them ourselves. So now not only is my food sitting getting cold for who knows how long because I don’t know when it was placed there but she has to give me complete attitude after I’ve waited so long. The food was ok but cold when we got it home. Sucks to have to reheat 60 dollars worth of food. Every person I saw interact with her while I was waiting was met with the same harsh, unwilling to be helpful, attitude. It’s too bad because I’ve always had good experiences in the past but this is just making me not...

Had the opportunity to have a mid-afternoon brunch-esque mega-snack (or dinner-ette) at this Perkins location with a friend in town and at a nearby hotel. It was practically empty, but then it was at one of those "not-mealtime" moments. I will have to figure out a way to see the atmosphere a little more active, rather than it being the two of us, and I think 2 others were there.
Our waitress (is that term PC? I honestly don't know), whose name escapes me, was perfection. We warmed up to her immediately, as she was very family-friendly professional and genuinely upbeat (or she's a great actress). Because the restaurant was slow, we got to banter with her more than typical, which just added to our enjoyment.
The food was very good. Much better than expected (I expected above average), but it's not meant to be an establishment for diamonds and tiaras. It took a while to order because they have a very big selection and the flavors and origins of the dishes varied more than ever, it took a while to decide. It was very good, like I said, and it was apparent this wasn't prepared in a stale and flash-frozen to heat it fast food stuff sort of way. It was nicely spiced (because there are more spices than salt and pepper) and fresh. Not like a lot of the "get your food quickly" places, like... think about Pizza! Pizza! Yeah, it's a great value until it's gone and you cannot recall if it had any fresh-like flavors at all. No, Perkins made us some good food from real ingredients you had to work with to make our meal.
I will need to find a reason to go back at some point when it has a livelier crowd. But my friend and I had a very good time!
*NOTE: I did not know that an earlier draft of this review had posted until I received a note that the restaurant had responded to may review. I had just begun the review process when my computer felt it was time to shutdown (apparently 5% left on a laptop battery isn't a lot - who knew?) and I assumed nothing was posted and I would review later.
Thank you, Perkins, for giving my friend and I the perfect setting to temporarily shut out all the ick around us, and focus on creating what I like to call...
Read moreUPDATE: As I stated in an earlier review, we love this Perkins! It's been part of our family get togethers for many years. I must be sure to stress my disappointment for our visit tonight. We are together as a family once again, which does not happen often. Family was here from Michigan, Alaska, and of course, local. We called ahead to see if they could accommodate a group of 20. This is not new for us as we've done this before. The last time we were together as a family at this Perkins was when my father passed away 11 years ago. This visit we came after my brother-in-law's funeral. When we called to ask, the response from the manager was, and I quote, "did you try any other Perkins?" He was quite rude, but did say they would make space. When we arrived at 5 pm there were only a handful of patrons and there was plenty of space. Our service was excellent and the food was as consistent as always. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or the service. However watching the manager and the way he treated the staff and other customers made it clear that he simply should not be in that role. I do understand that places are short staffed, I do understand that sometimes people have bad days. However, the way that manager treated everyone that I saw him interact with was simply rude and unprofessional. Even if this was a one off, it was inexcusable. To the owner of this restaurant, this needs to be addressed or will impact your business.
We have not lived in the area for many years, but my extended family still lives nearby. We no longer have Perkins, so we eat here at least once every time we visit. This particular Perkins had remained pretty consistent over the years, and as such, we keep coming back. It has become quite the tradition to meet as a family at this Perkins when we are in town. We've been visiting for at least 25 years and I hope it will continue. If you're looking for a good dessert, try the, no sugar added Triple Berry Pie, the French Silk Pie, or an Eau Claire. You can't go wrong with cookies or...
