The atmosphere itself is great as half of it is blocked off on itâs own little beach, and it is one of my favorite spots to go out at as a local of the area. But if I could leave no stars I would after a horrible experience that I had with a bartender pictured below named John, according to the bartender that was working with him in the tiki hut bar by the main entrance.
My friend and I went up to Johnâs spot for some drinks, and while we were up there I was starting to pick up that we had been waiting longer than usual. It was then that I started to notice that he was looking around to see if anyone needed help, but proceeded to keep skipping over my friend and I. A new group of people came up after about fifteen minutes of us still waiting to get served, and as soon as the group got up there next to us he helped them immediately. Naturally at any bar if you see someone getting served before you and you have been waiting awhile, if you feel comfortable saying something about it you say something. So I called out John and said to him, âExcuse me, but we have been waiting for quite some time now and we were here first before that group youâre trying to take care of right now.â He then looked at me, laughs, and goes, âI donât know if youâve seen, but I go in a rotating order. Iâm helping them first, and then Iâm helping you.â Wow, like Iâm suppose to notice that youâre going in a ârotating order,â while other people next to me waiting to get served are also agreeing with me saying that youâre not going in any particular order at all. Because of his rude response, I did clap back at him since I do not let anyone think they can get away with being rude to me. When asking him how I was suppose to pick up on his ârotating order,â John replied, âStay awhile and you will find out.â
This was terrible service as a bartender, and let alone customer service in general. It was quite an embarrassing experience for me as I have never had any issues when going out to Jenks with my friends. Based off the service that I received from John, I obviously decided not to give him a tip (in which when he realized he didnât get a tip from me he said, âAnd of course I donât get a f*cking tipâ) after waiting 15 minutes for him to open up three cans of Surfsideâs for my friend and I, and get belittled by him for calling him out for serving other people who had just walked up to the bar with no wait before me. So not only does John need a lesson from his parents, his boss, or a counselor on how to talk to people, he also desperately needs to go back to bar tending school too as later on that night my boyfriend got an Orange Crush made by him that was just watered down orange juice and vodka. This club/boardwalk needs to wake up and look at all of the recent reviews of unwell customer service, and start firing people for repeated complaints of dissatisfaction of how they treat...
Read moreWe will never be coming back here. my friend, bf & I came at around 6pm & told the woman at âsecurityâ our friends had a table(they did) & she let us through. We found our friends, & our server told us the table would be ready in 5 minutes so we waited on on the sand for our table. Our friends told us they had gotten stamped & we wanted to make sure we did to, so we went back to the woman & she immediately got rude & loud, âyou lied to me, you donât have a tableâ & we were confused bc we had no idea what the problem was. my friend was like âyes we do the server told us to wait.â & the âsecurity,â said very aggressively, âthen show me the table if you have one, show meâ so we called our friend who had received the text with the table reservation to come over & woman was still acting like we were doing something wrong. She told us she wasnât stamping us until we had a receipt, so like okay? We asked our server about it & he was confused too. We approached another security guard about it bc we were worried they would kick us out without stamps, he took us back to the front, & the rude woman was obviously saying lies to him & he came back aggressively & said we have to show him the receipt of the food? Sure. After we took the receipt to the security that gives out the stamps and they literally just stamped us, no issues at all. The woman security was just giving us a hard time for no reason. The only reason we stayed was because our friends there before us had already paid. The âsecurityâ needs to learn to listen before acting, & get a better attitude. Bc ugly looks bad on everyone.
Also we had like 5 drinks and no one felt drunk, the water was dirty & tasted like jalapeños & the...
Read moreWe came to celebrate a friendâs birthday, expecting to keep the good vibes going, but the experience was disappointing from the start. The staff was rude and confused, and the rules were a mess. Different areas had random conditions. You could stand in front of the DJ with drinks but not sit, you could sit in another section, but only if you ordered food, and the outside bar didnât connect to the beach unless you paid extra đ”âđ«
The staff fought each other. Our waitress tried to get us more chairs, only for another employee to make her return them. Policies kept changing depending on who you asked, every staff member gave a different answer about beach access and what was allowed.
Security was the worst. Outright abusive. One guard yelled at us for bringing an umbrella, which we didnât know wasnât allowed. Later, another guard screamed when one of us tried to cross into the beach, even though another staff member had just allowed a part of our group through.
Food and drinks were no better. The nachos looked like someone had already eaten them, and the cocktails came in tiny water cups, they were watered down and flavorless. For the price and reputation, this was shocking.
From what we saw this isnât just 1 bad evening, itâs the culture here. Confusing policies that feel like money traps, staff contradicting each other, and unnecessarily aggressive security that makes people feel unwelcome. If you enjoy being disrespected while paying top dollar for food and drinks you wouldnât give to your dog, this is your place. Otherwise, save your time, your money, and your sanity. Plenty of better...
