A very disappointing experience today at Perks. Before heading home from a family beach vacation, we wanted to have one last meal. We were five adults and one six-week-old. We used the stroller and had her seated at the table. The Stroller was not blocking any aisle or doorway and, therefore, NOT a fire hazard. After we receive our meal, the young manager came to our table and said the stroller had to be closed. Not able to provide any other accommodations for the baby. The reaction from the table was emotional, and we chose to leave. As the baby's mother tried to leave, the manager blocked her by standing in front of the stroller and would not allow her to pass, stating I can't let you go without paying. The young mom was embarrassed at what had just transpired, and she just wanted to get her baby out of the restaurant. This behavior was unnecessary and escalated an already discriminating experience. Things continued to become out of control as we tried to pay the bill. Several other employees involved themselves in the situation with disrespectful comments and laughing at our family. One young waiter unnecessarily came to the front to observe. The owner leaves a group of very inexperienced young people in charge who don't know the policy.
The experience was discriminating and avoidable. Teach your staff a stroller at the table is no different than a wheelchair at the table. Having all the staff jump on a customer the way they did only escalated the problem and cause undue stress to everyone involved. When I got home, I called the restaurant to leave a message for the owner, and the manager told me, "you don't know my boss. He is not going to call you," and proceed to reiterate her interpretation of the Stroller being a fire hazard. She continued to talk over me instead of just taking my message.
I applaud young people who are willing to working. This very young staff is not ready to fly alone, and they should be aware he is not teaching them...

I visited this cafe in the past and it was amazing service food and everything.
Today I took my family here as a last meal to end our vacation. Well when we got there they told me I wouldn’t be able to bring my 7 week olds stroller into the restaurant and would only be able to bring her in the car seat and place it on top of a flipped upside down high chair, I told them I didn’t feel comfortable doing that and that the car seat and stroller are connected and I couldn’t leave the stroller in the car without leaving the car seat but I could pop the wheels up. So they told me I could put her in a chair, I said fine. They walk us to our table which was a table for 5 , so I was unable to put my daughter in a chair as we were a party of 6 including my infant daughter. So I proceeded to pop her wheels back down and put her between me and my boyfriend and slid my chair over to the corner. Everything was fine we ordered our drinks and then our food. As soon as we got our food and started eating , the manager came over and told us that we need to leave or put the stroller in the car (the stroller was not in an aisle and was not in the way of anything) we asked why. She told us that it was a fire hazard. We then proceeded to leave since they would not let us keep our daughter in the stroller out of the way from everyone even though we had been sitting there like that for 20 minutes. As we were trying to leave the manager got in front of me and pushed the stroller as I was trying to take my daughter out of the cafe , stating that we were not going anywhere...
Read moreI really hate to leave bad reviews, but people visiting Pt Pleasant deserve to know the truth. We came here for breakfast our 1st morning in town. Very friendly greeter and server. But the place did not look or feel clean. We were brought 2 carafes of coffee, regular and decaf. Both carafes were filthy looking. I did not even want to pick it up. I had 2 eggs, they were cooked perfect. The bacon was like shoe leather and even though it was so well done, the grease just oozed from it with each bite, not good. The hash browns were obviously left over from the day before. I also think they were store bought because the pieces were all 1 inch cubes. They were browned but shriveled and not crispy at all. My husband had the same as me but he added TWO pancakes to his order. The pancakes were not at all light and fluffy and had no flavor at all. We both had rye toast and that was well prepared and buttered nicely. Our breakfast cost $43.00!! The TWO pancakes cost $9.95!! Totally outrageous. Hey we are on vacation and we expect to pay more in tourist towns. We would not care at all IF it was good. It was terrible. Go elsewhere! The next morning we ate at a food shack on the beach, it was delicious. The next day we went to another place that was excellent. It is called a man and a woman's name. I don't know if I can say it in another establishment's review, but you will be able to find it easy enough in...
