Sawaddee Ka treats their African American customers poorly. I advise those not to waste their hard earned money with this establishment. I went there to pick up an Uber Eats order yesterday 5/24/24. I barely got my foot in the door when I was greeted with pure hostility. The Thai server immediately raised her voice, demanding I stop at the door & give an order name from across restaurant. Not even knowing rather I came there to dine in or not. Even so, I still politely gave her a name. She continued barking orders unpleasantly. Seemingly irritated by nothing other than my sheer existence.
An older caucasian couple who were the only other customers there got awkwardly silent as she continued barking. It was quite unpleasantly humiliating. I wanted to tell the rude Thai server that this is a free country & that I could walk where ever I pleased. But I just kept silent. I already knew that anything I say could be villainized based on preconceived notions.
So instead, I decided to write this review. I want to put a scope up on these businesses & their poor service practices. They need to be held accountable. No one deserves to be treated poorly just because of their differences.
What's even more disheartening is that Thai cooking was #1 on my bucket list of foods to tryout. I've been highly interested in Thai culture for many years now. But I haven't actually been to a Thai restaurant or spoke to a Thai person until first time last night. & I must say, the experience has traumatized me. I'm actually afraid of Thai person now. I fear them. I won't be visiting Thai...
Read moreSo... I read the reviews of this Pho and traveled some distance to try it. I'm just going to be blunt.
If this Pho is what those other reviewers had, then they don't understand Pho one bit. I've probably, no joke, tried at least 100 unique pho restaurants in my travels and I am confident in saying this Pho was among the very worst.
The broth is absolutely a failure. When you've tried as much Pho as I have, you become an expert. This pho tasted like onion powder and boxed beef broth or bouillon. You can tell something is off because if you know pho... let it sit and see if the solids in the broth settle. There are no detectable beef particles in this broth. That tells me it's boxed or bouillon.
There is just no possible way this broth can be at all considered traditional Pho flavor. No amount of appealing to me changes this fact.
I'm willing to concede that perhaps their rice dishes etc are fine but the only way you might think this Pho is authentic and good is that you've never tried good pho before. Such a disappointment.
At least they don't over charge it's $12.95 but I didn't even finish it. I rarely if ever not finish. This was disgusting as a Pho coneseur.
The meat looked like precooked as well you're supposed to slice fresh red meat and put it in the soup. The noodles were pre cooked too much as well and they as a result were mushy.
This whole offering is actually offensive to the...
Read moreLunch specials, great prices, perfect portion sizes, fantastic food and the most amazing service. No seriously, our server was working the phone, carry out and the entire dining room (during the lunch rush) and she killed it!
We had Thai Tea x2 and they were both good.
For starters we tried, the Spring Rolls, the Chicken Wings and the Summer Rolls because when you’re a foodie, you can’t just order one appetizer. They were amazing and totally worth ordering again. Don’t forget to ask for the chili oil. The Summer rolls were my personal favorite.
For our entrees we tried the Spicy Lemongrass Beef, it was very tender, had a good balance of tang and spice and the lemongrass wasn’t overpowering.
Pho Combination, (no tripe, not a fan of tripe) all I can say is I want more, and I want it now! If you like Pho, you will love this. The broth was so good. As were the slices of beef and meatball and the noodles were not overcooked.
If you have not tried this place yet, you are...
