Shake Shack Newport News — Restaurant in Poquoson

I finally visited our newly opened Shake Shack in Newport News with excitement and anticipation of something great to experience. Oh dear.....was I ever so very disappointed and disillusioned! Upon entering this Location I was immediately struck by a very cold impersonal Structure which presented itself more like the Look of a Warehouse with tables placed all around. No "Personality" or welcoming Atmosphere whatsoever, which both usually are being achieved by some kind of warm Decor and overall dining room Design and Structure! Nope not at Shake Shack! To make things even a little bit worse, their prices are utterly OUTRAGEOUS for the size of their Hamburger Patties and Buns they rest on. The amount of Fries served was just borderline acceptable in that little paper tray they give you. I ordered the Truffle Parmesan Fries and I really should have taken a picture since there hardly was a Trace of Parmesan at all. So disappointing! I also had their Truffle Burger and a Strawberry Lemonade which was alright. The size of their Burgers is shockingly SMALL/TINY/WHIMPY/SKIMPY or whatever your preferred description might be. Taste wise things kind of checked out...as I said lack of Parmesan on the Fries and the taste of the Truffle Burger was alright, but nothing to "write home about". I had a much better Mushroom Swiss Burger at several other Establishments in our Area, but as I said it was alright! Overall I don't feel a strong urge to revisit Shacke Shack, ANY Shake Shack for that matter. Their prices need to come waaaay down and the Quantity of Food needs to at least increase to a decent recognizable level without needing a magnifying glass to see what's in front of you! My tab for 2 people was not justified for what we got QUANTITY and partially Quality wise. Absolutely NOT! 1 Bacon Cheese Fries 1 Truffle Fries 1 Truffle Burger 1 Strawberry Lemonade 1 small Shake For a total of $40 👀 We dined in but didn't feel welcomed with their cold impersonal dining room design. The first time we tried this place, we DoorDashed it, and everything was hot and fresh. My boyfriend loves burgers, so he's put this up as one of his top 5 favorite burger places.

We went in yesterday to dine in around 5 p.m., and the restaurant was packed with the majority of the back tables filled with customers. They have side ordering tablets in case you didn't wanna wait for a register to open, or you could place your order at the front with a person. Staff was very knowledgeable on the products and gave great recommendations.

We did four burgers overall, two plain w/cheese, and I tried myself the Bacon/Avocado burger and the Original Shack burger. They were super tasty and hot. We shared a side of bacon cheese fries. The cheese sauce is subtle, but I enjoyed it even more as it was heavily sauced. Had us the strawberry lemonade as the pomegranate lemonade was out (but that must mean it's good), and an Apple Cider milkshake which literally tasted like apple pieeee, da best!

They don't offer combo meals as everything is ordered individually. Cost $$ may vary from person to person, but no complaints here from us.

Super spacious inside, and they even have a shuffle board for playing while you wait. Service was pretty fast. The location is clean, neat, and well kept. After every customer finished their meals and left, a staff member came out to sanatize/disinfected and thoroughly wipped down the tables completely for the next use.

Yummy tasties for some afternoon/evening munchies. We'll definitely be back soon. We left highly satisfied with our dine in experience.

The place has a nice vibe and the young woman who brought our food was really nice. That’s what the two stars are for. Ordering was easy and customizing was easy on the touch screens as you inside. The menu is clearly displayed with prices which is also nice. No squinting over other customers heads to see what’s what. We did have to clean the seats and table before we could sit which is not good. In the hour we were there I didn’t see anyone come out and just spritz and wipe anything, so that was not good. The bathroom, well I didn’t linger because I’m not going to clean up after someone else so I can use a restroom. Maybe they need another member of staff to make sure these vital cleaning items are served. Ok the food. It was pretty terrible. The size of the patty is clearly displayed on the menu board and was not an issue. The amount of salt however would put anyone in a high blood pressure spin! No one needs that much salt! Now I understand this is personal preference but letting those salty burger lovers salt their own food can be a thing. I got the vegetarian burger and it was just South of ok.
