We come down to the Port Angeles waterfront about once a week with our daughter and our friends. Our daughter is two and she enjoys feeding the birds and loves the mac and cheese from Barhops. Even on the occasions we had not purchased anything from Barhops they had been kind enough to allow us to use their restroom for our daughter. Something they did not have to do. I currently have to use a crutch due to a broken leg that is healing so my friend accompanies me to assist. It can take time to get a two year old to use the bathroom and have to change their pulls. We also make sure to leave the bathroom in good condition.
While on Monday, June 15th, we were confronted by a woman who I believe is one of the owners. She told us we were no longer welcome to come in and use the bathroom. That it happened too often and that we took too long. I told her we understood and we left. I was not upset so much by what she said, but how she said it. She was confrontational and rude.
My husband told me when we got outside and I told him what happened that she had explained to him that now that the restaurant is open they have to clean the bathroom every time it is used. I can understand that being a hardship on them. Again it is their restaurant, they set the rules, and they have the right to enforce them. They were nice enough to allow us to use the bathroom while they did. It was her attitude that was unnecessary. For this reason, even though we do enjoy their food, we won't buy...
Read moreCame here on the 4th of July and as much as I wanted to love this place I couldn’t because the service was so awful. We waited in line for a table and waited 30 minutes to be seated. We were not aware that we needed to order at the counter, so we waited at the table for 10 minutes for someone to take our order and finally I got up and asked a waitress and she said we needed to order a the bar. Waited another 30 minutes in line only to finally get the the front of the line, stand at the cash register for 5 minutes while the bartender in the red crop top was ringing up other orders and finally asked if anyone was going to acknowledge me at some point. I was upset at this point and said that they need to do better and at least acknowledge people who are waiting, and this girl in the red crop top said, “we can’t do better. We are busy. And if you have a problem with the service here you can leave.”
She was incredibly rude. We ordered anyway because at this point we had waited for over an hour and had already driven 5 hours today and had no energy to try and find somewhere new. The food was actually really great so it’s sad that this one bartender felt it was beneath her to apologize for being rude and move on. I can’t recommend going here unfortunately and hope whoever owns this place finds the time to train staff to be kind...
Read moreA good, but not amazing, place for a casual dinner/happy hour and a beer. The location is fun, right on the water. Ambiance is grungey with good music playing and an industrial vibe. Pizza was the highlight for us. We ordered a curry pizza and enjoyed it quite a lot. Thin crust, cooked fast, came out before the rest of our food. Also had the Sriracha fries, which were a gooey mess and delicious. The jalapeño roulette was a bit soggy and we wouldn't get again. Beer is average. I got a flight with the reflector and copper hop pale ales, and the playing hooky and Citra IPAs. Reflector pale wasn't great....far too pils/lagery for my taste. The copper hop was a hazy pale and reasonably good. Both IPAs were average, with the Citra being the better of the too. Too much malt chacter is both of them. Our food server was fast and energetic, but the server at the bar was slow and a bit rude. She just kept talking to other employees while a line formed....and we just all waited...and waited. Other than that server, I don't agree at all with some of the angry reviews at this place. It's fine, with above average pub food, and average beer. Definitely nothing to hate, and I would likely go back again if I was...
