I am updating my review on the next door A-Hole Gastro Snob restaurant. This is my second visit to this restaurant and I just got to say the staff are ridiculously snobbish. The first time I went in I wanted to substitute french fries on my entree for some sliced avocado and the manager said that we don't do substitutions. She then informed me there's a restaurant up the street that I can go to and if they won't do that perhaps she will do that for me. So they were closed I came back in the restaurant and she apologized and said I can do that for you so I was sitting at the bar and there was a gentleman who was having some kind of distress and I offered my assistance. He ended up falling to the ground and I caught him and he was having an epileptic seizure. I asked the staff for some help they gave it to me I got some wooden sticks from the sweet bartender Michelle put them in his mouth so he wouldn't swallow his tongue called 911 and help the man and the Medics came and said I did an excellent job saving the man's life. I came in today which is a week later and asked for a cheeseburger without the bun and asked if they could put the meat between two pieces of lettuce, the Bitchie waitress was fast with a snobby attitude that we can't do that because the lettuce is broken up the night before and we can't give you two whole pieces of lettuce. Frustrated again I walked out and went to the Rail down the street and got the exact same thing at less cost with no snobby attitude. I guess it's hit-and-miss when you come here if you were treated like a cash paying customer or if they want to give you attitude for some reason because they don't like the way you look. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to be treated like crap. By the staff and the management. I updated my review and what comes after is the first experience that I had there. Here's how it went the last time I was there: Had an incredible experience dining here. The food was delicious and the staff was courteous and I really enjoyed it. Michelle the bartender and the manager that worked here were both really good at what they did. I definitely recommend eating here. I will be coming back to speak with Michelle because she's the only nice person that I've experienced here I will get one more chance cuz the food is actually delicious. I would like the owner to contact me. They can give me an apology and at least a free meal out of the deal.

With a high praise and a serious recommendation from a friend, we made Next Door Gastropub our late lunch destination in Port Angeles. At first I was quite reluctant about our choice — a 30+ minute wait for a table when we were already starving from our time in the Hurricane Ridge. But when all was said and done, it was well worth the wait. Next Door is a REALLY SMALL place — seating is quite limited and you’re packed in there, making for a pretty noisy ambiance. So don’t expect to carry on a quiet conversation, particular during the heavier tourist season. As a craft beer aficionado, I was quite delighted by the craft beer and cider selection that they had. I had two full flights and loved every single one of them — four-plus star beers and ciders from the Pacific Northwest. It was the kinda of fodder for my Untappd check-in history that left me more than just satisfied with my time here, but delighted. Then there’s the food. I had one of their burgers and it was absolutely to die for. I’m at a loss for words how to describe it, other than chock full of flavor and near perfectly crafted. The only thing I would have changed personally, is to toast the bun to help reduce the amount of moisture sucked in by the bun, whereby making the eating experience a little less messy. But you’ll still hear no complaints out of me. It was like finding a world-class brewpub tucked away in a small harbor town — a delight, joy, and privilege to stop at. I don’t frequently dole out the high praise like this, gushing with only great things to say and valueless adjectives like “awesome” or “great” or “super.” But this is one case where in all my excursions to seek out great beer and great food, that I’ve found myself at a loss for the kind of words that would help adequately describe just how awesome the food was. Well worth the wait.

Not impressed. My wife and I stopped here for dinner while doing the Olympic loop and were told it would be a 45-60 minute wait on a Tuesday night. We said that was fine and went out to walk around town. Wait ended up being over an hour and when we were called in we were told we would be seated at the bar despite there being 6 other open tables (all 4 person) at this point - a bunch of groups all left around the same time. We asked the person seating us if we could have one of those tables instead since sitting outside sounded really nice and 2 of those tables were outside, but honesty sitting anywhere but the bar sounded better. She said no. I was pretty shocked and asked why and she said they needed to hold them in case other people show up. Excuse me? I waited over an hour to get seated and then told that other people are more important. Okay.

Anyway, we sit at the bar and order our food seeing another group of 2 come in and get seated at the bar. Just like me, they ask if they can move and the hostess moves them to one of the outside tables that we had asked if we could have. They came in 5 minutes after us and were also a group of 2. I mean, are you freaking kidding me?? It was so incredibly rude.

Anyway, we order food and got the smash burger with garlic fries and the Mac and cheese. The burger was not good. The patties were dry. I realize it is a smash burger, but that doesn’t mean they should be over cooked. Outside of that, the Creole Aioli was watery (like it had separate) and couldn’t be tasted. I had one bite where I could actually taste the aioli and was good! But I should only have one small bite in a whole burger that isn’t lacking in flavor. Maybe their other burgers are better, but I don’t recommend the smash burger unless you like dry and flavorless patties. The garlic parm fries were fine. The Mac and cheese on the other hand was actually really good. My wife got it with bacon and loved it. I’m not usually a huge Mac and cheese person, but this was actually pretty darn good.

Last thing I will throw out is that the bartender rocks. I’ve never had such attentive bar service. My wife and I were back from a long day of hiking and were drinking through the water glasses like no one’s business. She set us up with a pitcher right away and then filled the pitcher back up in the blink of an eye when we drained it - all without ever asking. So shout out to then! If you do get stuck at the bar, know you are in good hands.

I don’t recommend coming here. Between a really long wait, being told other customers were more important than us (and then witnessing it), getting a dry and flavorless burger, and not being the cheapest place around, go...

I was visiting this restaurant yesterday over Easter weekend. Myself and my friend who lives in the town over went in, there was no hostess there or host, we sat there for about eight minutes before I walked over to the bar and asked the lady if there’s a host available because we’ve been sitting here and there’s another couple behind us. She said the host was busy putting together a to go order, but in the meantime, no one spoke to us. No one greeted us. No one said anything. Finally someone came, which was not the Hostess, we sat down, and then again no one showed up for approximately 10 minutes. Finally, the person that sat us down, came back and offered us some water, she gave us the water and then I asked for a sample of one of their ciders to see if I liked it, 15 minutes later I got this sample. The sample was not good so I asked for a different beer and I ordered that. I didn’t get that beer until 23 minutes later, but the same waitress was so lively and talking to all of her other guests, but would not stop by our table, not once. Finally, when I ordered, she took the order, then it took another 20 minutes to get that order while everyone around me that came in after us Got their orders. The burger that I had was terrible, I took a bite, it wasn’t good, so I waited for the waitress to come back, the entire time we sat there she never came back, not a single time. To the point where I finally had to say, ma’am, could you please give me the check, she didn’t ask us how the food was, She didn’t ask us if we needed anything, but everyone around us was being treated pretty fairly and we were not. I am an African-American, my guest was Native American. I own 21 restaurants throughout the south, and I have never had service that bad in my entire life. I’ve only ever written three reviews that were not good over the last 30 years. I told the lady I’ll still pay for the order, and I even gave her a tip, even though the order was not good, and I informed her that it was not good. She never offered to fix it, did not offer to comp it, wow, seeing the plate was completely full with everything on it and nothing eaten, except a bite, but she did nothing but bought me a check. I will never go back to that restaurant again, I also wrote a little note and left it there letting them know that. I’ve never been treated that badly and I’ve never had food that bad. So I will not be going back to that restaurant ever again nor will anyone from my company or my restaurants go There. It pays to be nice and respectful to the people. Even though everything was terrible, I...
