Leo’s grill was open for about a week and a half when we first went.
Nestled in the heart of the city, Leo’s Grill promises a truly unforgettable journey through the vibrant flavors of India, offering a modern yet authentic take on the country’s rich culinary traditions. From the moment you step inside, the warm, inviting ambiance embraces you, with elegant decor that blends traditional Indian motifs with contemporary touches. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, making it the perfect setting for both casual dinners and special occasions.
The menu, a thoughtfully curated blend of regional Indian flavors, showcases the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine, while offering something for every palate—from bold and fiery dishes to milder, more nuanced flavors.
We began our meal with the Chicken Tikki Masala—succulent, perfectly marinated chicken cooked to perfection in the tandoor. The creamy, slightly smoky marinade enveloped the meat, which was tender and full of flavor. Paired with a tangy mint chutney, it was a delightful introduction to the evening.
Next, we indulged in the Chicken Biryani, a creamy, rich curry that featured perfectly cooked paneer in a luscious tomato-based gravy, with hints of aromatic spices like cardamom and cinnamon. The balance of flavors was impeccable—rich without being overwhelming, and just the right amount of heat to keep the dish exciting.
The shrimp Curry was an absolute standout. The shrimp were fresh and juicy, immersed in a delicate coconut milk base that was both fragrant and comforting. Infused with the bold flavors of tamarind, mustard seeds, and curry leaves, it offered a perfect combination of tangy, spicy, and savory notes.
For sides, the Garlic Naan and Jeera Rice were the perfect accompaniments, each fluffy and aromatic. The naan was soft yet crispy at the edges, while the rice had just the right amount of cumin, complementing the curries beautifully.
Dessert was a dream: the Gulab Jamun—small, warm, and soaked in sweet syrup—was the ideal end to a spectacular meal. The rich, melt-in-your-mouth dumplings were indulgent yet not overpowering, and paired wonderfully with a small glass of cardamom-infused chai.
Service at Leo’s Grill was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to offer recommendations, which further enhanced the experience.
In conclusion, Leo’s Grill is a gem of a restaurant that elevates the Indian dining experience to new heights. With its masterful blend of flavors, contemporary atmosphere, and exceptional service, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the best of Indian cuisine with a modern twist. Whether you’re a long-time lover of Indian food or a newcomer to the flavors, this place is sure to leave you...

Tucked away in Port Isabel, this newly opened Indian restaurant has already made a lasting impression in just 7 weeks. Owned by Latha, a passionate chef from Southern India, the restaurant offers a truly authentic dining experience, both in flavor and hospitality served by family. The Food: We Loved Every Bite! Every dish was a standout, but these selections truly stole the show: Butter Chicken Masala – A creamy, perfectly spiced dish that strikes the right balance between richness and depth. The chicken is tender, and the sauce is velvety, making it an ideal pairing with fluffy naan and fragrant basmati rice. Shrimp Tikka Masala – A delightful twist on the classic, featuring plump, juicy shrimp bathed in a luscious tomato-based sauce with just the right amount of mild heat. Madras Chicken Curry – This dish brings bold South Indian flavors, with a mild kick that spice lovers will appreciate. Read moreThere have been a few Indian/ Pakistani restaurants opened in Rio Grande Valley over the years and they have all mostly been ok. So, at my wife's insistence on trying this new Indian restaurant in Port Isabel I finally agreed . I was very pleasantly surprised by a lot of things about this restaurant. It is in a strip mall, the decor is pleasant and not ostentatious - more like a home feeling, the whole family was involved in running the restaurant and nearly all the food items we ordered we pretty good . Samosas were crispy and delicious , Naans were all delicious and very well made , the south Indian coffee ,though not the traditional filter coffee was still pretty good, chicken Chettinad marinated and cooked in spices and coconut was quite good though on the creamy side and it can range from fairly dry to quite creamy ,the channa paneer ( chick peas with cottage cheese cubes) was excellent, the nearly fried masala fish was outstanding . The service was a bit slow as the restaurant oqner was not expecting so many clients for dinner ,but was still adequate. All in all this restaurant hits most of the right spots and hence despite some drawbacks ( like the restroom not being so nice ) and the food straying from its true roots to adapt to the American palate , I still ended up giving it five stars . You won't go wrong ,just go with an open and relaxed mind and you will really enjoy...
