Saturday morning 12/11 on shift was blonde in red cardigan serving tables and brunette host wearing checkered button down. Never received worse service, with outrageous waiting times. We came it at 11:20, quoted a 20minutes which we did, in the car. Sat down when the blonde server greeted us a full 10 minutes after we’d been sat. It was a full half hour before they delivered our drinks- simply tea and hot chocolate - only after we had asked about where our drinks were. Only after we asked about what was going on, and seeing tables that were sat after us receive both their drinks and food much earlier. Two parties of 4 and 6 had been served drinks and food before us, a party of 2. A few minutes later, the hot chocolate came in with our food. The drinks were cold.

This restaurant ruined everything. They wasted our time and cut into time we had scheduled for other things in the area. Complete disrespect. No restaurant, no matter how small, gets so backed up they can’t heat some water up for tea for a whole half hour. Of course not. That is why the drinks magically appeared a minute after we politely asked. At that point, management needs to decide to stop taking in tables to fairly attend to their paying customers. We were never given explanation, courtesy, an honest apology. Just cold drinks and disrespect. Unprofessional, incompetent. The servers will contend they were backed up. No. You’re not backed up when you’ve served full meals to every other table in the restaurant and one table specifically is still sitting with...

We came to this place last weekend for a brunch at the suggestion of the hotel staff. There were just 2 people outside the place who were waiting ahead of us. When we came in, we were told that the wait could be about 25 minutes. Which was strange because we saw about 3 tables that were free and I am only talking about what was within our sight from the door. Who knows there could be more inside that we could not see. And yet, we saw 4 groups called before we were called, which was already past 45 minutes. When we raised this to the waitresses and front door lady, they seemed unshaken and did not give us any explanation. And then, we were called and seated, and while in our table, we waited for yet another 20 minutes before our food came in, making our wait effectively more than an hour.

While waiting for our food, we read reviews and yelp, and voila - the problems we were having have already been raised by others hear - long wait, understaffed. The understaffing situation could be the problem, because as we waited for 45 minutes, 4 groups were called to come in but we never saw anyone step out and leave their tables. Which makes it clear that they were not filling up tables because they probably cannot cope with the demand, with only 3 women running the place on a peak hour of Sunday brunch.

We were so disappointed that we left very little tip, and as we headed to the parking lot, we were chased by one of the ladies who screamed "thanks, folks!" in a sarcastic way. I will never come back to this...

I was disappointed bc there was not much edible on the menu for a person who wants a club sandwich at lunch time....it was some escargot or high scale expensive fish dinner dishes....i got something with dark part of the chicken and veggies....the chicken was SO soggy and no flavor in the veggies....they must of been very busy bv of a big group of guests and some other regulars too but...still...my ceased salad with no meat was 11$ and that was the best one ....the main dish was 30$....i couldn't eat much at all of it....and they didn't offer to fix anything but I didn't pressure or act mad cause I know the pains of customers service....the owner seemed like a real a hole to his employees too....so my mother and I spent 88$ there for a salad and 2 dinner dishes at lunch time which took about an hour to come out.......well at least the building and the staff excluding the owner who only said something to us once....which was r u ready to pay and he took our card.....he walked past us and stood next to us without making eye contact for 1 hour until he saw that $$$...i can tell he used to upscale people...guess maybe my mother and I who were just passing through didn't have on the right attire to treat us as good as the other customers....1 more thing...the poor service almost crashed into each other with arms full of glass were running back and forth...owner didn't care...."hurry up!" He would say ...poor guys look miserable and exhausted Don't mind the typos...im not going...

Some good reviews. Compelling online photos. Interesting and differentiated menu. Unfortunately the execution was way below expectations for this day. First issue was that we put our name on the list then went outside to wait with almost everyone else. After waiting 15 minutes more than our estimate and seeing parties that came after us get seated, I went in to check on our position and was told "we already called your name". There were 4 of us in the group sitting right by the door. It turns out they didn't check outside. Once seated we ordered. My friend and I split the French toast which the menu says has to be prepared overnight and takes longer. We also ordered a Benedict. Both were very disappointing. The French toast was incredibly dry and despite the menu saying it was made using thick slices of bread it looked like normal super market best. The Benedict wasn't very flavorful and the eggs were over done. Our food was brought out by someone in the kitchen so maybe they were understaffed or something. Regardless, after so many great did experiences in Portland this was a big disappointment.

We had a really good lunch here with great food and a comfortable welcoming atmosphere. We ate here on a Thursday in late fall at just before 12. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we arrived but filled up before we left. Our server was very friendly with helpful suggestions. Our entrees included the Fujita, ahi tuna wrap (pita, not tortilla) with sweet soy dressing, slaw, and sriracha mayo. The flavors were wonderful - bold, layered, and complementary, but I usually prefer light dressing on my salads, and I might request that next time if I were to order this wrap again. The curry pasta salad side was also very tasty. We also had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was extra delicious with the sandwich grilled along with the chicken the with spinach artichoke feta spread filling. Overall, this was a terrific lunch and I hope we get to visit the Artemesia Cafe again soon!

I went to the Artemisia Cafe for brunch. It was around the corner from my hotel and I'm glad I stopped there to eat. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. With a decorative tin ceiling and old exposed pipes, they did a great job decorating this cafe. They had a bar for adult drinks and various caffeinated drinks. I ordered the "East End Omelet" (which came with home fries and toast), coffee and orange juice. This dish was delicious! Along with the eggs, there was spinach (my girlfriend will be happy to hear I had spinach today), apple smoked bacon, with melted, creamy goat cheese (YUM!). The goat cheese really pulled it all together. The coffee was full bodied and strong, the way I like it. The service was pleasant and fast - the drinks came out almost immediately and the food within 5 minutes. I recommend Artemisia Cafe, if you're in the area.
