Eh. We got there at 9:25 on a Tuesday and the guy greeted us with āhey- yeah we close in half an hourā sure, no problem we smiled - we know to order quickly. You close at 10 right? I got a salad, my husband a Margherita pizza- and 2 sangrias. The sangrias were tasteless, and told the bartender - she said oh probably the Sierra Mist is out- she asked āshould I add ginger ale instead?ā Sure ? But so now its ginger ale on top of the bad seltzer from before? Why didnāt she make new ones? Sadly didnt taste good⦠My salad was simple but decent. My husband ordered the margherita pizza and It was covered in a sweet balsamic syrup that unfortunately over powered what we hoped was a simple tomato/ cheese/ basil pizza. But the biggest issue is that we sat for almost 10 mins without utensils or even napkins after receiving our food. All the while having to listen to this pretty intense and offensive loud music. We ended up Shazamming it because we were surprised sitting there (in a restaurant) waiting for utensils and then actively eating while having to listen to lyrics like āS⦠Big C...ā and then repeated ā(four letter word) Youā and ā(four letter word) Meā or āwhen you (four letter word) need a minuteā Every song with this fake snair drum sound that is sadly popular these days. We found out it was an artist by the name of Darci and they were classified as āa dark R& B singerā. Dark? How about offensive? I donāt know but this was too much for us. Maybe too much for beer and pizza? The volume was loud for a ārestaurantā but never mind the volume, who lets these kind of lyrics so blatantly pass? And Why? Is there no reasonable understanding for the type of music or lyrics that should be playing in an establishment of the general public? What if we had brought our kids? Or our older parents? Not sure if this is or isnāt the norm at the Brickyard but We sadly wouldnāt want to revisit this night even if the whole meal had been free. We hope someone notices that some things might need some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood experience at Brickyard Hollow during our Maine visit! šŗ
While exploring the area on Labor Day, my friends and I split up - they went for chicken and lobster while I set out on a 15-minute walk to find a Mexican restaurant I'd spotted on Google. Turns out it was closed for the holiday (someone forgot to update their hours!), but thankfully I discovered Brickyard Hollow Brewing Company just a block away with their doors open.
I practically burst through the door, absolutely starving, and was immediately greeted by Zima - what a genuinely welcoming person! As a vegetarian at a brewing company, I was a bit worried about food options. When I mentioned I was craving something like Chipotle, Zima went above and beyond. He not only recommended their rice bowl but personally arranged to have the meat swapped out for Beyond Meat. This kind of thoughtful accommodation made all the difference! šØāš³. I had Crispy Beyond Meat Bowl
What impressed me most was watching Zima work throughout my meal. He was essentially running the entire place - adjusting chairs, cleaning tables, greeting new guests, and checking in with everyone to ensure they had everything they needed. His attention to detail and genuine care for each customer's experience was remarkable.
The food itself was good (I was so hungry I cleaned my plate!), but it was Zima's exceptional service that transformed what could have been a disappointing afternoon into a truly memorable dining experience. š
Special shoutout to Zima šŖfor not letting a hungry vegetarian go without options and for treating every guest like they mattered. This is the kind of personal touch that makes local establishments shine!
I recommend Brickyard Hollow - come for the brews & food, stay for the incredible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām so torn on my opinions of this place. We stopped twice. Kyle was our first bartender early in the day and did a phenomenal jobā personable and attentive.
Based on our first stop, we figured would stop a second time after our dayās activities. The bartender (I did not catch her nameā she seemed like a shift manager or lead bartender) seemed like she had other tasks that came before serving clients at the bar. It was a challenge to flag her down to get new beers, put in a food order, or even to pay our bill. If this was my first experience, I never would have come back.
A few other pointsā for as much foot traffic as this place has, Iād highly recommend putting in a toilet paper holder in the womenās restroom. Somehow the hook on the back of the door seemed a little lackluster.
Though the beer dispensing system is cool (Iāve truly never seen it before), it seems a little gross to have bartenders switching tasks (from serving food, playing on their phone, loading the dish machine) going straight to touching and adjusting the magnetic disc in the bottom of a glass of beer thatās going to a customer. Iām sure the bacterial/viral transfer is minimal with the presence of alcoholā it just seems odd.
Also, I donāt know what Maine health code is, but in our state, using handwashing sinks for anything other than handwashing is prohibited⦠which includes filling pitchers for people to...
