Called direct and placed the order, they tried to charge me 5.99 for delivery even though we were in the 2 mile radius (good thing I know the area).
I can't speak accurately to the true flavor because it arrived 45 minutes past the delivery time we were told and lukewarm (š¤®) When we called to complain, we were told they were not responsible for the delivery person... (Ummmm you picked them, not us)
For us it was not worth the price or the wait.
Won't be back.
Please note response below from owner and also - Please feel free to take a look at my profile - I rarely leave negative reviews
Follow up to the owner: Because I believe that is how you handle a problem not the actual problem itself, I always give an establishment the opportunity to correct the problem before I leave a review - which in this case clearly didn't happen when I called and gave you that opportunity.
Additionally, The reason we called to order it over the phone was because there was an issue with the site and it kept crashing on our mobile so the young lady on the phone said "Yeah, that happens sometimes" and told us we could just order from her and so we did. Ironically, the delivery driver told us he was given the WRONG pick-up time by your store so that is why our meal was cold.
I was staying in a hotel without a way to reheat the meal but I guess I could have ran it under hot water - (Maybe that would have helped the extremely dry bread issue).
You clearly believe that you can "bully" anyone who leaves you even the slightest negative review but I will thank you for assisting me in my profession. I train corporations on Integrity Service and what that means and you have just given me an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of horrible customer services to share with the hundreds of people I train.
Bad service and bad attitudes is what ruins Portland not someone being honest about their experience.
Have a nice day.
2nd and Last update (as you clearly need to get in the last word so I will give you that.
AGAIN look at my reviews - I rarely leave poor reviews. I do not threaten or bully people but thank you that was pretty entertaining and I needed the laugh this morning. FYI: I have an entire class that witnessed my phone conversation as I called during class as an example of how someone might potentially respond to a challenge. I thanked them for their time and disconnected the call. The review was not left until hours after the call was made, not prior. Your establishment was originally given a 2 star review but it was revised with my updated comments to a 1 star based on how you so very professionally handled the situation. I have been an educator for longer than May but since May with my current company but nice to know I was important enough for you to search my personal life out and "try" to use it against me I would love to give you a free session on reputation management - perhaps it can be helpful in the future. As you said, I am game if...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was a terrible experience not just for me, but for my co-workers. I was super excited to try this place due to its fabulous reviews. My co-workers and I ordered 3 sandwich for pick up. When we arrived we were told it was going to be a few, which was no problem at all. A man from the kitchen came out with black wavy shoulder length hair and give us our sandwiches. Once we got back to the office, which is a block away I oped my BLT and it was soggy! )= I took a bite and felt a piece of hair in my mouth. I though it was mine, sadly it wasn't. I stopped eating it immediately. My co-workers thought it would be a good idea to look at theirs, and unfortunately found another piece of black hair. Back when we were at the cafe picking up our food I had noticed that the guy who brought out our food did not have his beautiful black hair restrained. He also was wearing gloves when he came out to hand us our bag of sandwiches, which make me a little nervous. (I hope he changed his gloves when he went back to kitchen) When we went back to the cafe to tell the owner what happened she apologized and offered to remake our sandwiches, we rejected the gesture. She also said that she will be "working on" making changes. Well, From my understanding when I took my food handlers test this year it states that anyone who is working in food service that has long hair needs to have it restrained because people are particularly sensitive to food contaminated hair. Food workers could potentially contaminate their hands when they touch their hair and this can lead to getting someone sick. I'm pretty sure this was a health code violation. You would think people who own a restaurant would know that is not acceptable. I am sad to say that I will never go back, nor will my co-workers and my...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePreviously Iāve had nothing but great experiences with Charlieās deli, great sandwiches, timely service, tonight, however was an exception. We ordered two of the vegetarian sandwiches through their site using Chownow who apparently contracts out through DoorDash. The driver delivered the order on time but upon bringing it upstairs we discovered it was the wrong order. I was able to reach the driver and he said it was the order provided to him at Charlieās for us. I contacted chownow/DoorDash who told me I would need to contact the restaurant to resolve the issue. To their credit Charlieās did call me because another customer called who presumably got our food. They admitted to making the mistake and giving the driver the wrong order. I was told they were unable to issue a refund ābecause they werenāt trained up on thatā. I could place the order again (and pay for it again) to get the correct food and could keep the food I received. I explained it appeared to be a meat sandwich and we had ordered vegetarian sandwiches and that we had no need for it. The individual at Charlieās said I could try to get a refund from DoorDash but it would probably be a lot of āannoying communicationā. So now Iām out nearly $40. DoorDash did their job by processing the order, they got their money, delivery driver did his job and got his money. The fault was with Charlieās and they get to keep a lionās share of the money. Meanwhile I have no dinner and am out the money? I am all for supporting small business during this pandemic but not with practices like this. I enjoyed your sandwiches but wonāt be back, there are other great...
