Update: a lot has changed in the last 4 years, but one thing is the same - the customer service, quality of beverages, and quality of food is still amazing at Coffee ME Up. My now-husband and I are visiting Portland for the week (we live in Kansas City now) and we knew we needed to stop by here. This place still reigns supreme as our favorite coffee shop we have ever visited. One of the team members remembered us, and we haven't been here since we moved 2.5 years ago. Being remembered and valued is clearly a priority here.

Old review: My boyfriend and I decided to try this café out after our original breakfast plans got ruined, and it turned out to be the best experience we've had in a while. I am a current Starbucks barista, and he used to work for Starbucks as well, and we both are very picky when it comes to coffee and customer service. We both started off with pumpkin spice lattes and a bacon, avocado, egg, and cheese on an English muffin, and were so impressed with the quality that we ended up purchasing small drip coffee, a hot chocolate (pictured), iced chai latte, and a bag of ground coffee. Every employee we spoke with was extremely nice and worked to get to know us. The café was quaint and homey, and I'm convinced that they serve the best hot chocolate I've ever had. We will definitely be returning often after this...

This place is amazing. I preface this by we went to this place 2 days in a row for coffee and a smoothie. Then because of the quality and attention to detail we came back 2 days later. My wife's order is always some form of a latté EXTRA hot. I can't tell you how many times she has taken a first sip wrinkled her nose and said this isn't extra hot. My order as a tourist is to order things I haven't seen on a menu before (for better or for worse) my cold coffee the first day was good but it wasn't for me, day two was a salep (order this instead of decaf or if you don't need the caffeine it was delightful.) Third time was a Maine Honey Chia made with cloves. This is every thing I want to wind down at the end of a night. The smoothie's were awesome with the ability to make small substitutions (we recommend no cucumber add pineapple to the green smoothie) now to the sandwiches, wow I hope they keep the twisted spicy tomato on their menu for ever. As a person who isn't a huge tomato fan...

Discovered this little gem (and I mean little) while scouring Google Maps for somewhere to stop for lunch on a five hour drive through the usual Sunday afternoon 'rush hour' of people returning to MA from ME. Our usual pit stop is the Whole Foods nearby, but I wanted money to not go to Bezos so looked for an alternative. Coffee ME Up delivered that and judging by how busy it was when we arrived I am pretty sure many other people (both locals and visitors) feel the same way. Great selection of sandwiches (they did a custom one for our over-tired seven year old) and the only coffee drinker in our family confirms the coffee is worth the diversion from 295. The purple smoothie was devoured by the small human in our party who declared her summer cold completely gone with all the vitamins (partially true!). Great service by people you could see were working really hard to make sure everyone not only got their food on time, but got good food on time. Coffee ME Up! It's...

Yet another great coffee shop in Portland. Coffee is from coffee by design and was very good. Servers were very friendly, enjoyed their jobs and seemed to remember everyone that walked in (must have a very loyal clientele). All the interior furniture was custom made using what looked like reclaimed materials. I sat there for an hour and the crowd was diverse: Sunni Arab from Iraq with 2 other older people having a lively discussion, 2 people speaking some Slavic language, younger people and 2 older ladies who were helping each other onto the curb from their car, canes in hand. Clearly a center of community on Cumberland
