DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! My family and I are traveling from out of state and the service and atmosphere at this place was infuriating. We had put our names down on the waiting list and after doing so, a blonde waiter was incredibly rude and motioned with her hands as if she was “shooing” us out of there and was very hostile when she golf us to wait outside. I came back in to ask if I would receive a text message when our seating was available and she would look at me with a nasty face MULTIPLE TIMES but never acknowledged me and I had to ask someone else and they told me we would receive a text when our seating was ready. My family and I waited about 30 minutes outside and realized there were many open seats available as people were leaving and we never got a text. We headed back inside to ask if our seats would be available soon and the same blonde waiter said she “thought we changed our mind and took us off the waiting list.” After we eventually got seated and SEVERAL minutes later every single server did anything but acknowledge us. We had to speak up and ask if we can at least get drinks going where they even acted as if that was an inconvenience to them. One of my family members had ordered a virgin bloody mary (a customer SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO HER had the same thing) to then the brunette waitress responds to her order with a DISGUSTING look and proceeds to say “uhhh yeah I guess.” On top of all of this, THE ENTIRE TIME we were eating both waitresses, blonde and brunette, still had the audacity to be STARING AND WHISPERING AND GIVING US NASTY FACES and were very clearly talking ABOUT us as if we weren’t sitting right in front of them. My family and I are all hispanic and I have never felt more disrespect and felt so unwelcome than my experience here. It’s so sad we traveled and chose this place to have breakfast just to be treated this way. Their behavior was disgusting and they should be ashamed they’re running a business that way. It’s also very disappointing to see there were SEVERAL other very similar reviews about people feeling discriminated and obviously nothing has been done about it and that’s not including people who don’t leave reviews. DO NOT EAT HERE APPARENTLY MINORITIES ARE NOT WANTED HERE!!!!!! DO BETTER!!!!!!! SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTING...
Read moreResounding yes! Best "come as you are" breakfast in Portland. I didn't know a place like this still existed. This diner is straight out of the 90s and the food is amazing.
Absolutely perfect. Quintessential diner right down to every detail. I feel like they took a restaurant from my childhood and slapped it in the middle of downtown Portland with zero changes. you sit at the counter.
Very delicious food. I got a Denver omelet. It was light and fluffy full of cheese and vegetables while not being overly heavy and it wasn't greasy at all. The flavor was spot-on! you can tell they've been doing this for 65 years. They cook it on the griddle in the back of the restaurant so you can hear that sizzle. The hash browns were crispy krunchy and exactly the way they should be. I got a side of gravy, it tasted exactly the way I remember diner gravy tasting when I was growing up. the coffee was hot and fresh and tasted great. Deep aroma and served with the little cups of real half-and-half that look like, once again... 1990s.
the staff was an excellent mix of culture. The girl that was the main server had a very 1970s l look mixed with Portland's current style. She pulled it off perfectly :-) exactly who I would expect to be served by in this type of establishment. You can tell they all work together well and they care about each other. There are pictures on the wall from when the establishment was on Union avenue, what is now MLK Boulevard, in 1955. So this place truly is a Portland classic.
this was a really great experience. I feel like I could come here anytime with anyone whether it be my 82 year old grandmother or my 17 year old nephew this place is perfect. And the prices...
Read moreThis is far and away the best diner I've ever gone to. Their omelettes are delicious (my favorite is the "famous" omelette), and are served so fresh and hot that you should probably eat your hash browns (which are crispy and perfect, of course) first. These people know how to hash a brown better than anyone, and their eggs are seasoned so impeccably that the salt and pepper shakers in the little wire condiment basket may as well be decorative. If you prefer a sweet breakfast, their blueberry pancakes are fantastic, and their french toast cannot be beat! Both are served with plenty of butter and a little jug of weapons-grade delicious syrup. It's so smooth and buttery, there aren't words. Their bread is homemade, too, and boy do they know what they are about when it comes to that bread. They make wheat bread taste good, no joke. Plus, they have little pots of jelly for your toast, which is just the cutest thing. Finally, the service! I strolled in at 6:45 in the morning, the sun was not even up, and asked if I could have a table outside. I have a dog so I have to eat outdoors, but because of the hour the tables hadn't been set up outside yet. The waitress, an adorable grandmotherly woman, cheerfully set me up a single table outdoors where I could enjoy the sunrise while I ate. She made sure that I had everything I could want, including plenty of coffee and even a little cup of diced ham for my dog! All this, the excellent food, the fantastic service, and delicious unlimited coffee makes Fullers my first recommendation when it comes to food...
