My Less and More experience is probably one of the best experiences I've had in Portland.
We were heading towards another restaurant (meaning we're not really planning to have coffee), but the quaint and minimalist design called out our names a block away. There is something about this coffee place that gravitated us towards it, and we got even more drawn seeing its name and how neat and tidy the place is.
Even if there were a considerable number of coffee and pastry selections, it was not difficult for us to choose what to order, thanks to the help of the barista/owner, Ryan. We were only 2, but we were able to experience three different coffee confections.. Take note - EXPERIENCE the coffee.
One of the house specials is the Tiramisu Latte (not sure if this is the name, it's that good that I forgot a lot of things and just enjoyed the drink!). So when we got it, Ryan gave us the instructions on how to perfectly enjoy it. So we did what we were told, tried it, AND. IT. WAS. GAME. OVER. For me, I got a magical experience that felt like a feast, even before I tasted the flavors of the drink! Texture, quality, and the perfectly combined tastes literally made me pause, close my eyes and enjoy that coffee experience. And I am not exaggerating. Ryan's passion and expertise in what he is doing are very evident, and translated into a great coffee experience. Remember, coffee is not part of the plan, but it turned out to be a better plan than having lunch.
I also recommend the Cinnamon Chai Coffee, and I will definitely try Ube Latte when I come back soon, with family and friends.
So two thumbs up and 5 (or make it 10) stars for Less and More! True enough, less mystery, more coffee, and an experience that...
Read moreLess and More Coffee after hearing so much about it, and I was happy to avoid the wait by pre-ordering online. The cafe has a great vibe, and the drinks are interesting, but here’s my take on what I tried: • Black Sesame Latte (Oat Milk): This was definitely the standout. The bitterness of the black sesame paired nicely with the smooth coffee and creamy oat milk foam. However, towards the end, the coffee flavor was a bit too mild (I went with 2 shots of espresso) and lost some of its depth. ☕️ Rating: 6.8/10 • Tiramisu Latte: A popular choice, but it felt more like a milk coffee drink you’d get at a bubble tea shop. Still tasty, but not as unique or complex as the black sesame. ☕️ Rating: 6.3/10 • Hot Purple Sweet Potato Latte: Sweet and creamy, but it tasted like it used purple sweet potato powder instead of fresh, which made it a bit overly sweet. The coffee flavor didn’t come through much, and without the milk foam, it was a bit plain. ☕️ Rating: 6/10 • Hojicha Latte: The roasted tea flavor was a bit too dry and didn’t have the depth I was hoping for. Like the other hot drink, it was a little too sweet. ☕️ Rating: 5.5/10
Overall, Less and More Coffee is a trendy spot with a Korean-inspired twist on coffee drinks. It’s a great place for trying unique drinks, but the flavors could use a little more balance. Definitely worth checking out if you’re...
Read moreCute standalone kiosk with to-go only service. There are two stool chairs on one end during our quick stop if you really need to linger, but it’s not designed to be a hangout spot. It’s a good grab-and-go stop while walking through downtown or bouncing between places.
We made a quick stop after lunch for the first time on Sunday, 7/27 around 2:30pm. No line. Service was quick and friendly. I asked about their second location, it’s just another kiosk, not a full cafe.
We ordered: -Tiramisu Latte – $7.50 -Black Sesame Cream Latte – $7.50 -Hojicha Latte w/ Oat Milk – $6.25
The Black Sesame was our favorite of the three. The Tiramisu Latte didn’t stand out, we’ve had better. The Hojicha Latte was the crowd favorite. One thing to note: both the tiramisu and sesame lattes had a bit of acidity that we don’t typically prefer. We usually lean toward lower or none acidity coffee drinks.
Overall, we liked it enough to return if we’re in the area, but wouldn’t go out of our way for it.
