After a long journey from the furthest Northern reaches of Washington State, we spotted a McMenamins. Hunger, and thirst upon us we eagerly sat down to slake both.
Our initial waitress was very helpful, brought us menus promptly, and took drink orders. After a quick order we discover they were out of one of the cocktail ingredients for one of our drinks we ordered. NBD we can just order something else, except that quick and helpful waitress just got off. So we were handed over to the bartender...
So the man who was very busy, keeping the drinks flowing, was also out in charge of our table...
All the while, two other waitress's had time to stand around a bit, talk to bar patrons and take a relaxed pace.
So not a big deal, but we had to get up and ask about getting that "replacement" drink, and our food orders taken.
The nice but also clearly overly busy bartender took our order, got us drinks, and kept things going. So we chocked it up to just bad timing.
We get our food, we ordered Ahi Tuna Tacos and the Pub steak (rare).
These were kind of...meh.
The steak was cooked: medium well to maybe medium rare, but overall didn't have a ton of flavor. So while it did the job of fighting back the hunger, it was a bit disappointing considering the amount of coin they wanted for it.
Tacos had good flavor but we're a bit needing in salt, which, we're both kind of salt lovers so we'll give that a pass.
Drinks once the bartender cleared his previous docket before he was asked to watch our table, we're great. He helped a family member with us, who is a picky Nascar beer only fan, branch out and...Enjoy a higher craft brew, so mad props for that!
So overall: service timing, meh steak, a bit more coin then the food seemed to merit balanced against good drinks, great atmosphere, and keen recommendations left us with a, "It was ok" not amazing, not terrible, pretty middle of the road.
I'm sure will go again, next time we're traveling through the Southlands again, but it will probably be a...
Read moreI’m not one to leave bad reviews, but I have always loved the McMenamin’s establishments and this time I was so disappointed. The food was great but the service was not. I came here with my mom and 2 year old son. When placing our order with our waiter, we were not given a children’s menu even when we asked about children’s drinks and food options. He blatantly told us that all he had was soda. We asked again if there was any sort of juice option for kids and he said there is a fresh squeezed orange juice but it was $5, in a tone that definitely seemed condescending. So we had ordered a grown up sized cheese pizza and just a water for my son who definitely couldn’t eat all of that. Then as I walked around to find some crayons and paper to draw on for my son, I found the kids menu. I looked at it and the pricing for a kids cheese pizza is less than half the price of the full pizza we ended up ordering, plus there were many more drink and food options available for kids. When we brought up to him that we didn’t know there was a kids menu, all he said was “Oh, you didn’t know?” And we said no and that we had ordered the cheese pizza for him but we could have ordered the kids pizza, then he said that they’re the same size anyway and when brought up that the price wasn’t the same, he just walked away without a word. This is the most horrible service we have ever had at a McMenamins and having been my first time at this location, I am so disappointed. Maybe this guy is new or something, but he needs to really work on his customer service skills and not to be that girl, but we were the only people of color at this time and place (Saturday 3/29/25 around 2pm), maybe he has some biases towards Asians or something but this location really needs to do some training with this fellow and go over their available menu options because clearly he is lacking in...
Read moreTERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We walked in and sat down unattended for awhile. So I asked the table next to me to borrow their menu so my 2 European guests could see the menu. We waited and waited until finally a waiter came by and asked if we had been helped. I said no. He said next time to not grab a menu because waiters would assume that someone was already waiting on us. So basically it was our fault. He came back to take out drink order but we gave him the entire order since we had waited so long. He said he'd come back with the drinks. He never did. He did come back and say they were shorthanded and that a table of 20 had came in. Which as a customer, I don't really care. We waited and waited and no drinks. So we left after 22 minutes of sitting there with no drinks or food. Extremely disappointed. It was my friend's birthday and when I told the waiter it was her birthday, he said he would sing for her. To which she was happy to head only or him to say he was just kidding. This was after we had been waiting for awhile. Also it was pretty hot in there. We went across the street for Mexican food and got served pretty quickly. I have been to many McMenamins and they are hit and miss. I def wont go back...
