R&R Bar — Restaurant in Portland

August 20th 2023: The bar was under staffed when we visited. The Bartender at this bar was explicitly rude to me. I approached the bar after two groups. The first had no idea of what was on the menu. They kept showing pictures and the bartender responded with "we don't do that anymore". It took about 20 mins for them to order. During that, she looked at the next couple and they ordered a fancy sex on the beach with Grey Goose and a Pina coloda, then looked at me and I ordered an old fashioned. She even thanked us for our patience. She made the first group of drinks, then she closed out a guy to the right of me, then proceeded to make drinks for the couple next to me. After the couple closed out, a group across the bar ordered refills. As she made those refills, she looked at me and then said, "oh f". That's when I said, "Am I still going to get my old fashioned?"

And her response was, "I have to help them, have some Situational Awareness. If you don't like it leave a yelp review. I don't have to serve you."

So here it is. They're not staffed for a Saturday night and the staff that they have are rude and lack customer service skills. They hang a Pride Flag and pretend to support people of color, but are just a business capitalizing on us. Go elsewhere if you want to...

Service was so bad it compelled me to write my first google review. Bar was pretty empty at the time so unclear why I was being ignored. Couldn’t tell if was a race issue, but I couldn’t help but notice I was the only non white person at the bar and also the only person not being served. Waited patiently for him to finish serving the only group of people that were standing at the bar and acknowledge me at all, but he kept taking orders from people that were just walking in the door. It was so uncomfortable to stand there for 25 minutes in an empty bar and not be served till there was literally nobody left standing there. It would have been comical if everyone I was there with, and the strangers walking in, didn’t also embarrassingly notice . If you’re not white I’d skip this place. R&R Bar was a hidden treasure, my friends and I stopped here passing from one bar to another and were captivated by the glowing light, blaring from their window. We are glad we did because the drinks are delicious and fun, the vibes inside are great, the food is amazing with large portions and the servers are very kind and generous!

Their mixed drinks all seem so fun, all unique and each with their own standout taste. They have hot drinks, cold drinks as well as slushies. At the end of the night the server provided us with a free drink that was made and really made our time seem valuable. For $5 the sweet potato fries portions were very large, we shared it with the table and everyone was satisfied. I recommend this place...
