I’ve been visiting the MLK location for 2 years, and it is consistently GOOD pizza. They generally have a good selection and ingredients always taste fresh and I’m a big fan of the crust. I rated a 3 simply based on customer service we received last night 12/19 around 6:30pm. We went in for 2 slices originally, both of us were hoping there would be a couple BBQ chicken slices, there wasn’t and then we asked would one be coming up soon, because we would wait. The guy said “No, but we can make one and have it ready in like 10 min”, we were like cool great in that case we will get 4 slices because there making a specific pie. A couple drinks were bought tip given and we wait for the pizza. When pizza is ready my partner goes to counter the man who took our order proceeds to very rudely tell my partner that “they won’t take special requests in the future and not to expect special treatment”, in a very snarky manner. One thing needs to be noted, we did NOT request it HE OFFERED it, we obliged and then even bought more pizza than we planned, because of the offer. After my partner stated ok, the counter guy kept going. That guy needs to speak to customers better. Anyway, won’t be going back because I’m not sure if it was a racial thing, my partner is Black man, but it’s interesting he didn’t act like that when I a white presenting woman was at...
Read moreThis is a quintessential Portland pizza joint - a little dark, a little dingy, but the service and the pies are great! My partner and I sat down after ordering two slices each (two were daily specials but the name went unknown as we just pointed while ordering). I personally loved the meaty slices as their meat was quite delicious (one was a combo-esque slice and the other was covered in chilis and a few pepperoni). The pizza margherita was just okay but the other three slices were delicious! The pizza itself (even warmed up) had l slightly crispy crust, almost no grease, and came out piping hot! They had about 6 to 8 beers on tap but all were of top quality and the soda and canned beer or wine usually do the trick if you want something lighter. I've been once before and I will definitely...
Read moreWell, ups and downs with this place. I called in to place an order to go for a party pizza pack with a Greek veggie pizza but I asked if I could add chicken to it (which I realize wouldn’t make it veggie anymore…) they told me they couldn’t do that. So instead asked for a side of chicken and they told me I couldn’t do that. So we ended up building our own pizza which cost more but I wanted my chicken 🐔.
After I picked up my order and got back to the hospital where my wife was giving birth I checked my pizza and sure enough, there was no chicken. So I made a call to Sparkies and asked to speak to the manager. After a quick chat with Paul he refunded me the extra cost.
Overall my issue was resolved and the pizza was absolutely delicious! I just wish I hadn’t expended the...
