I had initially came here with a friend a couple months ago for either their soft opening or days after it. The initial experience was good but clearly there were some kinks to work out. At the time I would have given it 4 stars with high hopes for improvements in the future.
Today I came in alone and was greeted pleasantly and seated right away. There weren't many people there and a few minutes after sitting I was brought some water. Minutes later someone came to take my order and I had questions about the Szechuan Cold Noodle. I was provided with a good detailed description of what was in it and decided to order that along with Sweet and Sour Pork.
About 5 minutes after I placed my order my noodles were brought to me. They were just as described and had just the right amount of spice for a cold dish.
Another 8-10 minutes later someone brought out my Sweet and Sour Pork. This is my first and only time I've ever gone to eat this dish and had no doubt it wasn't premade. The breading was absolutely fantastic. The sauce was flavorful and tasted much better than your typical sweet and sour sauce that you've had at every single other Chinese restaurant around. You know the kind, either out of a bag or a five gallon bucket. Tasty Corner is actually doing something with theirs instead of the premade slop you're used to.

That said, our last two takeout orders have been extremely disappointing. Chicken chow mein had very little chicken. The chicken in our general tsaos was pretty low quality and neither the chicken nor the sauce tasted particularly fresh. The honey walnut prawns were frankly terrible as well - previously this is an item that we thought was wonderful. Chicken fried rice was still good though so there’s that. What’s going on tasty corner? Seems like maybe this dip in quality:/freshness just started happening the last month or so.
Can’t speak to whether this was just random bad luck or specific days of the week - but it’s going to be some time before we order again unfortunately - just can’t justify spending $150 on takeout to not finish 75% of what we ordered.
Hoping our next order a few months down the road is back to what we had experienced before - would love to bump this review back up to the 4 or 5 star experience we had previously. Wishing you the best in the meantime and hope to be...

Food: 5/5 Service: No issues Ambiance: Casual Value: 4.75/5
In terms of Chinese restaurants in Portland, I think Tasty Corner is one of the best Szechuan options available. Not many restaurants offer dry pot and they did very well here. My only suggestion would be having dry pots with more combination of meats and ingredients. Their hot chicken was good, sizable and boneless. Flavor and crispiness was on point. The hand shaven noodle also was better than I expected and had good flavor. If you like peanut sauce it does have a hint of peanut flavor to the noodle sauce. Service was attentive and drinks were refilled regularly. What stands out to me is the portion size and value. The dry pot contained a good portion of meat and so did the hot chicken. In some Szechuan restaurants it’s just a massive pile of chillies and not so much meat. That isn’t the case here. Tons of meat. Pricing aligns with other Chinese offerings in the area. I would say in terms of restaurant quality, this lines up to even some spots in the Bay Area. I would definitely...
