While continuing my healing tour of Arizona (still sponsored by heartbreak and a playlist that could emotionally gut a grown man), I found myself in Prescott and made a stop at The Porch Coffee, a cozy little café that, honestly, might’ve just earned its honorary counseling license.
I met up with an old friend for what was originally supposed to be a simple coffee catch-up. But let’s be real: when you’re navigating the emotional aftermath of Hurricane Beau, it quickly turned into vegan pastries, caffeine, and the kind of vulnerable honesty usually reserved for a $200 therapy hour. (Sorry, Carlos. I know you’re probably wondering why I ghosted this week, but if it helps, the vegan blueberry muffin listened just as well and didn’t interrupt me once.)
And speaking of that muffin, wow. Fluffy, tender, bursting with juicy blueberries, and totally vegan without tasting like disappointment. It felt like comfort food with a conscience. The coffee itself was delicious too, smooth, rich, and soul-soothing in that way that makes you close your eyes on the first sip like you’re in a slow-motion indie film montage. And when I say the staff was kind, I mean therapy dog in human form kind. They helped me pick out the perfect drink and, without missing a beat, pointed me to the napkins when I inevitably got teary talking about Beau. It’s like they knew.
The ambiance was just as healing as the menu, sun-drenched porch seating, charming decor, and a calm, welcoming energy that practically invites you to cry in public in the healthiest way possible. It felt less like a coffee shop and more like a safe house with espresso.
I’ll definitely be back to The Porch anytime I’m in Prescott. Because some places serve coffee, and some places serve comfort, and this place, thankfully,...
Read moreA hidden gem! This place is huge! It's much bigger than it looks from the front with a fairly big parking lot tucked away in the back.
It's located across the street from the Sprouts supermarket on Sheldon. If you are heading south on Montezuma stay on the right lane, it's just past the traffic light on Sheldon so slow down as it will be on your right hand side with a side entrance to their rear parking lot.
The atmosphere is quiet and laid back with lots of tables and chairs and couches and plenty of cozy nooks and crannies.
There's a separate room to accommodate meetings.
There's even a separate room for kids to chill out under the watchful eye of a staff member. What other coffeehouse offers that!
The place is kept clean and tidy and the rest rooms are...impeccable. A definite plus for me as well as female patrons.
When I was there I noticed that most of the customers were young women with their laptops or books and notes apparently working on some project while sipping their smoothies or lattes and munching chocolate scones.
I would not be surprised if the next best seller was written here.
The two baristas on staff at the time when I visited (Marissa & Ellie) were young, lovely, well groomed and proficient in their tasks.
The smell of the coffee and scones was deliciously intoxicating.
This is the place to come to when you need to get away from household chores for awhile and just relax or read or study curling with a nice...
Read moreI decided to check this place while in the area because I saw that they offer vegan pastries. Upon entering you can see just how big the space is. They have a main seating area in the same room as the register and kitchen and also have a separate section of seating off to the side that seems more fitting for people who may want to avoid larger crowds. The woman ringing us up was really helpful and let us know that for the breakfast sandwich you have options for the bagel. My boyfriend chose the cheddar jalapeño bagel and said the breakfast sandwich was delicious. I ordered the avocado toast, which can be made vegan but you have to ask for it. They have vegan feta and butter and I really liked that they can accommodate different dietary preferences. I only wish they would advertise that they offer a vegan version of the avocado toast as it may not be clear to some that they can get it vegan. Aside from the breakfast sandwich and avocado toast, they also have quiche and crepes. They have a nice selection of teas, smoothies, and coffee/espresso. They also have some pastries that are gluten free and some that are vegan. Overall, I would definitely come back. The food and drinks were...
