Second Review (6/13/25): Try the Ruben, you won't be disappointed. The Smoked Applewood Burrata with roasted tomatoes remains my goto appetizer, however, the Smoked Gouda Chorizo Fondue is more than enough to satisfy the average appetite. FP, so far is my favorite restaurant in the quad area. When we have guests from out of town, I always recommend FP (as an excuse to eat there, as if I need an excuse to eat awesome food).

Now on to the food.
Since I am adept at making my own smoked mozzarella cheese, the Smoked Applewood Burrata with roasted tomatoes, smoked table-side, with grilled rosemary sea salt boule piqued my interest. It did not disappoint. Once the server lifted the smoke-filled clouche, I knew I was in for a culinary treat. The tomatoes exploded with tart freshness, tempered with the fattiness of the burrata and the pepperiness of the arugula. The balsamic was a perfect reduction that not only adds visual pop, but perfect balance to the dish. On my next trip I WILL order this again.
For my entrée, I ordered the “Bleu Collar” Burger, which features Amish bleu cheese and apple-wood bacon jam. They offer the customer a choice between grass-fed or grain-finished beef. Since I prefer the flavor of a grain or corn “polished” beef over grass-fed, it was nice to see them offer the customer this option. The burger’s beef was cooked as requested, but the strong bacon jam detracted from both the beef and the intended blue cheese flavor. I suggest serving the bacon jam on the side. The fries that came with the order were plentiful and the thin batter coated variety, more than enough for two servings. The Burrata and half the burger was so filling, I took the other half of the burger home and left the fries, since I don’t prefer rewarmed fries.
My wife’s starter was the Farm Crab Cakes. This was a hit for two reasons. First, for flavor, and second, because it is gluten-free. Gluten-free crab cakes are rare, and the chef perfectly executed these. She ordered the Boneless Beef Short Rib with parsnip potato puree and glazed local root vegetables. The cut of meat appeared more like a cut of roast than that of a short rib. Regardless, it was juicy and tender, perfectly presented, and tasted excellent. The roasted vegetables were nothing short of awesome. I expected the agave-roasted vegetables to be overly sweet, but they were perfectly seasoned and balanced. I sampled the puree and was not disappointed. My wife, who is not a meat-eater, cleaned the entire plate with a smile.
Oh, and the dark IPA is definitely worth a try.
I look forward to my next visit to this fine establishment and trying...
Read moreRude Rude Rude! Outside is thunder and lightning, we’re 20 mins early for our Rez, we check in with the hostess, sit at the (tiny) bar because we can’t stand outside. We wait for quite a while but the bartender refuses to even look our way, He continues to ignore us. A lady walks behind the bar and was ask her, “can we order a cocktail?” She says “the bar tender will be right with you”…we tell her he’s ignoring us…we continue to wait and watch him wash glasses, dry glasses, we keep trying to get his attention. Finally, we do and ask for drinks. He tells us we can’t have cocktails because we didn’t check in with the hostess, we explain, that we did, BUT he doesn’t believe us and he argues. This goes on and on. My husband finally says, “fine, we won’t drink liquor here then.” The couple sitting next to us explain they’re very frustrated, as well, with the service and being ignored, waiting, etc… the hostess comes and seats us, our server asks how we are doing? We explain our frustration with not getting any drinks. She says “Oh that’s because the people sitting at the bar are only there to eat dinner. We said “No, they’re also waiting for their table! And, they too, are really frustrated that they’re being ignored and they’ve been there 45 mins. She makes excuses for the rude service, and we ask for the manager…lo and behold it’s the same woman who came behind the bar, earlier, who didn’t take our drink order!! She also makes excuses for the bartender’s rudeness… she NEVER apologized! She should have simply said “I’m Sorry”, and gotten us our cocktails…but no, she ALSO tried to justify him by saying the couple at the bar are eating their meal there and …we explain, “NO, you’re wrong , they’re also waiting for their table, they’re also frustrated with the lack of good service here…etc…” BUT WHO CARES? We still deserve a greeting, attention, and an order taken, we finally stand up and walk out. Question: Why couldn’t anyone just say, “Opps, so sorry, let’s get you taken care of” ??? Instead they defend the bad bartender and his rudeness.
Keep in mind, ALL THIS IS HAPPENING IN FRONT OF OTHER DINERS…UGH!!
I now remember this bartender from the last time we came in…and him doing the exact same thing to my girlfriend and me!!! AND now that bad service makes us notice how dirty the restaurant is, remember how sticky the bar was, and all the other negative things about this establishment. Bad service ruins every restaurant experience. We didn’t deserve that and neither do you. Don’t waste your time or money. They don’t deserve our hard earned dollars!!!…AND, they...
Read moreThis was our 3rd visit and the food was FABULOUS as always! We got the halibut and bison specials, the smoked burrata, the goat cheese salad with chicken, the berry cobbler and chocolate cheesecake. ALL delicious! Our waiter, Jackson, who recently moved here from Hawaii was also amazing! So very personable and accommodating. It was my husband's birthday and my friend's first time there. I put the birthday info on the reservation. The girl who poured our waters was also so sweet.
However, we were 6 minutes late because our friend hit traffic driving up from Scottsdale. Our reservation was 6:45, we got there at 6:51. When we arrived, the hostess greeted with, "You were late, so this will cut into your time. We have an 8:15 after you, but you should still have time to eat. Your table is there" and pointed to the front corner table. Not a good way to start a nice and fairly pricey dinner! (Side note- when we left around 8:25, there were so many empty tables. I don't know why she felt the need she had to start our visit with such an admonishment.)
My husband ordered the Night in the Pines drink and the rosemary Jackson smoked at the table smelled so good! We also ordered two "smoke on the water" drinks because of the fabulous bubble on top. When Jackson brought mine he accidentally popped the bubble setting it down, but he brought another so I could video the pop and smoke! Well done. That's the reason those drinks were ordered!
We got the smoked burrata for the same reason. But the girl who brought that seemed rushed, distracted, didn't speak to us, and basically threw it on the table, ripped off the lid and left before I could raise my phone. I know taking pictures isn't everything, but when the presentations are so beautiful, I'm sure they know many people would like to do that, especially for a celebration dinner! They should make some fanfare at the table when the reveal is such a wow factor!! When she brought the food, same thing. My friend went to move his plate closer and burned his fingers. A simple, "the plates are hot" would have been sufficient prior to him hurting himself! He was not happy.
Because Jackson was so personable, we still had a good time and the food was still wonderful, but it would definitely behoove the owner to talk to some of the other servers and the hostess about customer service and...
