Jade Tree Asian Bistro — Restaurant in Providence

In Covid times, it appears this place is exclusively takeout. Inside is nice enough, but this review is solely about the food. As some others have said, the menu is HUGE. I typically feel the size of a place's menu is inversely proportional to the quality of the food, but in this case that's not so. I've gotten General Tso's chicken combo dinner a couple times now, everything in it was good, the egg roll it came with was hot and crispy on the outside. Scallion pancakes were hot and crispy. Sushi that we ordered was apparently also really good. Overall, very pleased with the food.

I see a lot of the negative comments are related to long delivery times. I've always gone to pick it up, so I can't speak to that. I can say the last time I went my order was ready in 10 mins (General Tso's chicken, rice, egg roll, scallion pancakes, and a sushi combo, so a decent sized order). But obviously if your food has been sitting out (either on the counter or in someone's car) for 2 hours, the quality is going to be poor by the time you get it. That's on Grubhub, not the restaurant.

I recently dined at Jade East and had an overall pleasant experience. The gyozas were an absolute delight, bursting with flavor and incredibly delicious. I was also pleased with the value offered by the combination platter – it was a satisfying and well-rounded meal.

However, I must admit that I found the chicken to be a bit on the bland side, which was a minor disappointment. Additionally, while the restaurant has potential, the service didn’t quite match up to the high standard set by the food. It felt like there were some missed opportunities to enhance the dining experience. Personally, I believe a little more attentiveness would greatly improve the overall impression.

Despite these observations, I’m optimistic about the potential for Jade East to become an even better dining destination. With a few adjustments, especially in the service department, it has the chance to truly shine. I look forward to my next visit and hope to see these...

Ordered via grubhub at 6:40pm. Food was supposed to be delivered at 7:30pm - 7:40pm. The food did not arrive. I called grubhub at 7:50pm to find out where my order was as the restaurant's number on the app was not working. I was told that the food was on it's way as the restaurant provides its own delivery (for a fee of $3.69). I waited until 8:35pm to try the restaurant again, as the food still had not arrived. I got through and was told that the driver had left 20 minutes ago and that they were really busy (I live 3 miles from the restaurant). It is now 9pm and the food has just arrived, over 2 hours from when it was ordered. I caution anyone ordering over the phone or via web to think twice about ordering food...
