Mezzeterranean tapas style dining is just simply a WOW experience! This small comfy restaurant is located just towards the end of the main strip of activity on Commercial St. Take the stroll and pass all the other eateries in town to dine here… IT IS worth it!
We have been coming to P’town for a number of years and have eaten elsewhere in town and from this experience, Mezzeteranean does stands head and shoulders above the competition. Here you get culinary delights that are well thought out and wonderfully presented with fresh ingredients. You can taste the care that goes into every dish.
Chef Brandon who oversees the kitchen has travelled the world learning the secrets of spice combinations and flavors and even directly imports these spices fresh from his contacts.
We initially ordered three dishes and some drinks but after being blown away by the flavors and combinations we just had to try more and we kept ordering, nine different things until my wife said enough, she is happily stuffed…LOL!
Our favorites: Spanikopita Spiral – large hand rolled light crisp phyllo with amazing spiced blend spinach cooked to perfection, Htipiti- never had this with such flavor and texture. And for dessert the Orange Phyllo Cake with homemade basil ice cream - OMG it is a mouthwatering dream!
Service was cheery and prompt. Seating is in and out. Tables inside have a view of the kitchen (which was so clean and organized) where the activity was like a show. Outside plenty of seating in the courtyard with nice shade and people watching views on Commercial St.
Highly recommend you make reservations; it seems the secret is getting out and you don’t want to be left standing without a table.
NOTE: This restaurant has a very unique setup. In the morning, they serve breakfast/brunch from 8a – 2p and they are called Yolqueria. They then shut down until 5:30p and then open for the evening as P’Town Mezze/Mezzeterranean until 9:30. Both menus are very unique and different…you don’t get the same old, same old as you do in other restaurants. So...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of eating at Mezzeterrenean this weekend with a group of close friends. Due to our party size, the host held a beautiful table in a more private space with sweeping views of Proivincetown Harbor.
Pleasing vistas weren't limited to outside, the interior has had a major glow-up since last year (when it was a different restaurant.) I'd describe it as "Clean-Modern-Cape-Realness" - Ambiance was A++ and our alcove felt comfortable and not isolated.
We didn't just show up to hang out though, we were hungry (and thirsty!) The cocktail menu is unique but not pretentious. Flavors were a blend of sweets and savories which was very welcome. A procurement of less mainstream Greek liquor flavorings worked very well and added enticing depths of flavor.
Now about the food... Mezze is all sharing plates, which isn't something you often see in Provincetown. Couple things to note - there are an abundance of options on the menu and a wide variety of culinary preferences and restrictions can be both accommodated and delighted.
We ordered an assortment of plates at start knowing we had vegetarians, pescetarians, and red-meat-eaters in our group. The food showed up as it was ready in a steady stream of freshly prepared deliciousness. Mezze is "small plates" but the plates are not "small" - each dish is plated beautifully with 3-4 portions of featured item accompanied by a complementing sauce, salad, or both.
The service was top-notch, and with so many new plates arriving (and emptying), our table remained well managed in both organization and abundance.
We kept ordering food until we decided we'd had enough (another bonus of the small-plate model.) Everyone agreed we felt very satisfied but not uncomfortably stuffed and importantly ready to take on a...
Read moreThe food was really good at Mezzeterranean, some of the best lamb chops I’ve ever had, but I think that the restaurant could do a bit better in communicating the portion sizes.
Initially our group of five ordered five dishes, crudite and two dips, which was definitely not enough. The chicken skewers were advertised as “trio of chicken skewers,” but we found when they arrived that it was really one chicken skewer with three seasonings - not quite enough for five people to share. Delicious nonetheless. We doubled down on the chicken and lamb chops when we realised it would not be enough. We were feeling a bit uneasy having to order a lot more food, but in the end the price was not too bad: $350 for five of us which included two desserts, a bottle of wine and a cocktail (not including tip).
The service was really friendly, but again, communication on the number of dishes could have made the dining experience a bit more relaxed. In the end, I would recommend it for the very delicious food - just go in with expectations on how much you’ll have to order. We enjoyed the lobster risotto croquettes and the grilled octopus as well.
One final piece of constructive criticism for the bar: my dad ordered a negroni “straight up” (I always say it’s better to say “neat” but I digress). They brought him a negroni with ice. He sent it back and they strained and then shook the negroni so it was very watery. I imagine their house cocktails are lovely, but I’d be nervous ordering any standard cocktail...
