John's Footlong — Restaurant in Provincetown

Ahhh, nothing brings back the childhood memories like a visit to John's. As a kid, we used to always stop at John's after a whale watch and it was those great summer memories that brought me back this year. We used the Long Point Shuttle earlier in the day and with a half an hour before our bus, I made the split second decision to order the chicken fingers basket, just like when I was younger. It tasted even better than I remember. The portion is huge and is definitely big enough to share if you're looking for a lighter option. It's actual white chicken, nothing that looks like it's been run through a grinder a few times. The fries were hot and crispy and plentiful. The food was great for the most part. The Hot DOG and clam chowder was good. The Lobster Roll however was better at Kelly’s near Boston Logon Airport. Also tap water in a cup should be complementary with purchase of anything. I was very thirsty and wanted water (I did not want bottled water as it is overpriced). The cashier said that will be $1. This is outright ridiculous. I’ve been to many restaurants and places similar to this establishment in similar small towns and they gave me filtered tap water and ice free when I asked for it with the meal. This is unacceptable and I probably won’t be back. It is already overpriced as it is. At least have the courtesy to offer tap water and ice for free...

They’re known for their hotdogs, but we didn’t get any. Instead we opted for their basket of fried scallops with onion rings, a fried fish burger, and cup of clam chowder.

Fried scallops were quite good, although smaller ones were overcooked a bit. The larger sizes were perfectly tender and amazing with their cocktail sauce.

Fried fish burger was a bit bland but was an okay option. Onion rings were quite good, not soggy and flavorful. Clam chowder was a good portion, with bits of clam in there. Wasn’t too impressed but still provided a good taste. Recommend this spot as a cheaper option to the other seafood...
