My family and I are huge fans of Kung Fu Dumplings; it’s a must visit whenever we’re in Ptown. Fresh, flavorful little bites of happiness, their dumplings are wonderful and not to be missed! Just like the dumplings, their dipping sauce is delicious and made in house. We enjoy the other menu offerings as well; many dishes are available in both regular and spicy versions. Call ahead for large takeout orders and don’t be discouraged if the line is busy when you first call; they generally answer within 10 minutes (it’s a small shop with just a handful of employees and they often get busy, but service is prompt and friendly). Parking can be challenging during high season, if getting takeout, have someone wait in the car while you pick up (there’s also paid parking in Ptown’s central lot). A small countertop seating area inside and a couple of covered picnic tables outside. Personal favorites are the pan fried pork dumplings (order double for a crowd - they’re about half the size of standard ones), wonton soup (which is chock full of wontons), and barbecued pork steam buns (bao). Dumplings can also be purchased frozen, so make sure to pick some up to enjoy at home. Highly recommend - Kung Fu Dumplings is a gem, and a terrific alternative to the Cape’s ubiquitous fare of lobster rolls, fish and chips, and...
Read moreIf you like potstickers.(called Dumplings on the east coast) I'm telling you...this spot is worth checking for sure...6 dumplings for $9 - but they are pretty big so I half them. They are made in house and very tasty- without to much dough around the meat! Presented in a circular shape-i prefer pan fried but I'm sure steamed in a soup would crush it... Many other menu options- when I happen to be in P-town (From CA / also Truro -long commute!) I like to grab an order before getting hammered at the O.C, Bradford,Pig,Bubalas,Underground, Surf Club, back to the OC... Great fast service- friendly and funny for sure! They do a lot of take out orders methinks. Interesting location between the McMillan Wharf restrooms and Commercial St- kind of a shell covered alleyway but not dirty/industrial. A pathway? Anyway find it. Eat it. It's really good.
I am a Certified Potsticker expert.
I just made up that Certification- but I have eaten a lot of Dumplings in a lot of places Worldwide- and Kung Fu Dumplings is in the Top...
Read moreMy friends and I were in town in the off-season and looking for a place to eat. Less than an hour before they closed, 8 of us descended upon this adorable little dumpling shop right when another group of 8 showed up.
Even though they went from a slow evening straight to being absolutely packed, Tenzin behind the counter was so cheery and welcoming. Once we'd all ordered, Tenzin brought out some chocolates from a local shop for us to enjoy while we waited.
The food itself was excellent. Our group ended up ordering several kinds of dumplings, steamed buns, wonton soup, fried rice, spring rolls, and more. Every dish was a hit. The dumplings in particular all had incredibly deep flavor, and the steamed buns had perfect, pillowy texture.
The custard buns were especially memorable. So much so that the next night, we picked up more of them for a late night snack, and made a final visit before leaving town to bring some home.
It may not be the easiest spot to see from a busy Commercial Street, but don't...
