Dear Portillo’s, I get that a Chicago Dog comes with mustard on it, but I HATE mustard. Like really hate it. And my husband is allergic to onions, while myself I don’t care for them either. Which is exactly why I ordered the Chicago Dog with no mustard, no onion, add ketchup for him and I to split, and 2 Big Beefs - one with peppers, one with no peppers and add mozzarella. I stopped by the drive thru on my way home after an 11 hour shift and got ordered 4 items and of those, 2 were wrong and were wasted into the trash. At first I was pleasantly surprised to see that the first guys gave me and extra hot dog, but extremely disappointed to see that the bonus hot dog and the one I ordered both had mustard and onions on it. So neither my husband or I could eat it. While my Big Beef was fine, his with no peppers/add mozzarella was wrong because there were hot peppers/onions on it and no mozzarella. Since he’s allergic, he couldn’t eat it. Thankfully the cheese fries we ordered were right, because my husband and I were able to split the 1 big beef that was correct and the fries, but we had to throw out the rest. So disappointing to waste so much food. I’ve never had so much in an order be incorrect, apart from receiving someone else’s order entirely. When customers order food and make specifications, it is extremely frustrating when that is not taken into consideration. You can’t just wipe off mustard, and you can’t mess around with food allergies. I really wanted to call up your restaurant when I got home to relay my dissatisfaction, but being tired and hangry was not a good combination state for me to be in had I called. Lucky for me we had a Digiorno pizza in the freezer that we could heat up to appease our hunger since we could only eat...
Read moreWe like it. My wife enjoys the Chicago style beef. I've tried several items including beef, sausage, hamburgers, fries, chile, hot dog, and cake. Food wide, everything is good but the chile, cake and hot dog. The regular hot dog is like a micro wiener, and boiled rather than grilled. I would get the regular, or larger dog..but only if grilled. The chile is too small of a portion and rather bland of flavoring or meat - being expensive for what you get. The cake was good once upon a time but now they have replace true chocolate icing with the spread stuff you'd get on a a $7 store bought cake in it's entirety.
So, do not order the cake, request the dog be grilled or order a sausage, and pass on the chile unless you want it to be small and taste like a $1.29 can of it from a store.
My compliments for the cleanliness and promptness of the staff in keeping after things. Also, the people taking the orders are exceptional.
The menu's could be more clear and larger display as it is noted that most customers wait til they get to the register to order. Not everyone know what they want until reviewing all the choices and options.
Last comment. We go to this QC location Gold Canyon, a 40 mile drive RT, and every time we go there - when we go to the counter to pick up our order, it has always been shorted a minimum of one order...a major order component like a hot dog, fries, burgers, sausage, beef...a change needs to be made on the preparation side and bagging before the customer number is called out.
Can't they use trays so the food isn't crushed together or...
Read moreOur overall experience with the food was a total disappointment. I brought my wife and kids there today since we like to try new restaurants. This was our first time being at Portillo’s at the Queen Creek location. The food came out not looking like the pictures which they rarely do but I expected it should show at least a little bit like their picture menu. My wife and I ordered a #1 the Italian roast beef. And my kids ordered a roast beef and sausage combo. When our food came out it was just soggy blend chopped up roast beef that tasted kind of like a French dip. When I asked the manager how come the sandwiches didn’t come with peppers even though the pictures clearly showed all their roast beef sandwiches comes with peppers. I was told if I wanted peppers it would be an extra charge. Oh yeah I was also charged for an extra fries which I’m okay with since mistakes happens sometimes. It was the rudeness and unapologetic attitude the manager had displayed. He had no problem telling his staff to make sure the extra fries was taken out of our bags. Which I didn’t appreciate since the staff dug her hands into our bag that was already made. I would of gladly handed the extra fries back to them. We’re totally disappointed with the food and the overall experience at Portillo’s today. ...
