A friend who lives in the Quincy area recommended this place as we were driving through to Boston.
Was surprised at the line of ppl outside. Went to walk around in the ranch99 next door.
Place is way overrated by the friend.
One of the hostess taking tables was super rude. A single person behind me asked them something and all I heard was no. Said something rude and refused to seat me when our number was called and I said they were walking over from ranch 99.
Place is humongous inside... Easily fits 75+ tables. Our server was friendly enough but most other servers didn't want to interact with you if you weren't part of their section.
With that said, the price per dish of $6.75 has probably been top 3 priciest of any I've had (the top might have been Tim Ho Wan). How was the food? Mediocre.
All the rice noodle dishes were tasteless (beef rice noodle, cilantro one and a special red shrimp). I can't believe the red rice noodles shrimp was $15. Then I don't know what they made the spicy szechuan rice noodle with... Not sure if it was even beef in that. Bland as heck... Did nothing but drizzle it with tasteless chili oil.
Pork ribs, bland. Ha gow, shu Mai -- bland. Salty egg yolk bun, not enough of the salty egg yolk. We tried 15+ different things, they were all bland.
The only two decent dishes that came out was the steamed shrimp and chives and the salty fried dough dumpling.
For the price of the food and all mediocre taste, it's gotta be below average.
If you want much better dim sum, drive out to Golden Palace by Mohegan Sun. Probably the top 2 I've had and much...
Read moreNEVER AGAIN!!! If I can give it NO star, I would. Out of 6 people that we asked for help, only 1 person was somewhat nice. Been here a few times before. Never received the friendly smiling faces, but they were never rude either, so I’ve never posted a bad review.
From the very 1st server, we already received a cold treatment. Later, when I asked another lady for drinks, she had to call out to a guy who takes the orders. At the time he was wiping the table right next to us, but he definitely heard the lady. I waited for him to finish his table and expected him to come over. Instead, he walked away, grabbed another rag and proceeded to wipe another table. I said “Excuse me I need a drink please.” He pointed at the table he was wiping and called another lady instead. (Why didn’t he just do that right away?)
So the other lady took our drink order. We waited… and waited… until my husband had to flag the same lady, to which she reacted startled realizing she forgot about our drinks. I believe she was the 5th person at the time and I just shrugged it all off thinking “they must be having a bad day…”
It was the last person that put me over the edge. She seemed to be pleasantly helping a table chatting with the customer so I waited next to the counter for her to finish ringing up before I even said anything. After I asked, she not only did not look at me, but was atually looking away when she wisked the boxes towards me acting as if I was bothering her. It was that time that I asked to speak with the manager.
I will just stick to South Garden in Quincy...
