Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga

This was me and my family's first time doing dine in since June and wow. Very deeply disappointed. First of all I work in the food and beverage industry and this was just horrible. For starters we drove here from apple valley, about a 50 min drive we chose 3pm I knew it would be a slow time for BBQ. The place was dead. Im talking quiet. We were greeted by a younger man, and I tell you its hard to tell a person's facial gestures cause of the mask but this guys tone of voice eyes and vibe were as if I was bugging him. Took about 8 mins to get offered drinks after sitting us down after I went and asked for fhem. Social distancing was perfect. We waited patiently as can be to place our order. About 15 mins into our visit we were approached by our server finally after grabbing my own crayons and coloring sheet for our 2 year old, with the words "what can I get for you're food" I replied to the server with the words "im great how are you," continued to take our order while the guest that were waiting in the lobby were getting restless. Watching the busboy/dishwasher/hostess or whatever he was mope around complaining that more people were showing up. Food was mediocre. Corn bread burnt. Beans were watery not a thick consistency. Mac n cheese was ok. Ribs werent "smoked" long i could barely rip the meat off. Wouldve took out grandpa's dentures thats for sure. But my picture was good. The gentleman who brought out the food was very energetic. Shouting feast as he brought the giant entree to the family while no one else helped cheer, i wish i would've asked for his name. Larger man working in the back bringing out food showed enthusiasm and just fed off great energy. He will shine anywhere he goes. He was amazing and is the reason I gave this place an extra star. Point blank the pandemic has took its tole on this place. A place that use to make me feel at home and warm welcome and served delicious food is not there...

I have enjoy this place on several occassions but, my last experience was a total fail. I ordered online as they suggest you do for faster service. When arrived I parked in one of the assigned spots and called the number listed on the sign to let them know I was there. I was caller #3 according to the message. Shortly after I arrived an employee came out to the car next to me to deliver food and then I was caller 2. A few minutes more and I was the next caller so far nothing too bad. During my wait I watched a number of people walk up, get seated and served drinks and chips in the outdoor ding area which was located to my left. I saw the employee who had brought food out to the car next to me talking with a server in the dining area and still not acknowlege me nor answer the phone when she went back to the pick up area. After 15 minutes or so I decided to go in since no one was answering the phone nor did any of the staff who saw me sitting in the designated spot come to my car like they had to the car that was previously parked beside me. I then waited another 10 - 15 minutes to get my order which was sitting on the counter getting cold the entire time I waited. The order was incorrect and not up to their usual standards so after a negative ordering, pickup and dining experience I will not be back anytime soon. BTW no one ever did answer my phone call as I remained the next caller all the way home for a total wait time over 48 minutes before I finally hung up. They should be clear with customers about the pick up process and the signs should say come in to pick up your order If they are not going to come out nor answer the phone...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Famous Dave's in Ontario, California, and overall, it was a delightful experience with a few minor hiccups. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff were incredibly welcoming, starting with our waitress who stood out for her friendliness and attentiveness. She took the time to recommend some of the most popular dishes on the menu, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Following her suggestion, I opted for the 3 Meat Combo, which included ribs, brisket, and chicken.

After placing my order, I decided to wait at the bar and enjoy a beer. The bartender was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and skilled at his craft. He served me an incredibly cold and reasonably priced beer, which was perfect for the warm day. His service added a positive note to my overall experience.

When my food arrived, the portion size and the aroma were inviting. However, I noticed a concerning detail upon closer inspection. The chicken had an unexpected and rather off-putting element: a wing bone stuck on top of it. This mishap in the presentation was disappointing and suggested a lack of attention from the kitchen staff. Despite this issue, the flavor of the meats was fantastic, and the sides complemented the main dishes well.

In conclusion, while the food presentation, particularly the presence of a misplaced bone on the chicken, was a bit of a letdown, the overall experience at Famous Dave's was positive. The excellent service from both the waitress and the bartender made a significant impact on my visit. With a bit more attention to detail in the kitchen, this place could easily become a top-notch BBQ...
