I was going for a walk and was hungry, but not hungry enough for a whole meal. I was walking past Oh Wheat and decided to peek in the window. The interior was plain, with handwritten labels and bleeding ink helping to differentiate all the non-descript and uniform-looking buns. I was glad the labels had an English translation, otherwise I would have been guessing by the pictures. I asked a few questions to the shop owner, to which every answer was just, "yes" with a smile. I knew this place was going to be legit then. I grabbed a pair of self-serve, plastic tongs from the rack, pinched a hefty bun, and lifted it into my compostable clamshell. It was only two and change including tip for a pork and onion. I thanked the shop owner and stepped outside, looking for a place to sit. I thought about waiting to eat it once I'd gotten home, where I'd have soy sauce and black vinegar, but I didn't want to wait. I sat on a padded, rectangular seat in front of the closed, next-door optometrist and popped open my clamshell. Impressed by the size and weight of the bun, I let my incisors press into the dough and tried to imagine I was one of those characters in a Miyazaki film. I bit into the hot and moist center and chewed. I quickly took another bite to confirm what I was feeling inside: this was the best bun I've ever had in my life, and I've been to Japan, China, Dough Zone, Din Tai Fung - you name it -- this bun dominated all of them. I happily finished my bun and went right back into Oh Wheat and ordered two more. It's currently 9:15 am while I'm writing this review and it's making me check what time Oh Wheat opens because maybe I'll go back...
Read moreUpdate: The original Kiki Bakery is officially dead. Not sure why they would change the name on both Google Maps and Yelp, but keep the old name on the actual store location, which is more than confusing. The selection of the bread is now dramatically reduced to less than half compared to where they used to be, to the point it doesn't make sense to pay a visit anymore.

Original: I got tofu and shredded potatoes today. The taste is great, but there are plastic threads in the food. I pulled one out of my mouth and saw another when I was picking up another bite. I would just call to notify them, but the phone number...
