I have actually been there a couple of times before and despite a little pricy, the food is actulaly OK. So today I took my friends there again. But the service we got today was TERRIBLE!!!
Everything was fine until one of the waitress served us meat and she spilled a WHOLE glass of water on both of my friends. There was water everywhere, on the floor, on the booth and on both of my friends' pants, one of the girls got half of her pants wet. A waiter, looks like the manager or shift leader and a waitress came and wiped it back and forth for about 5 mins. We did not blame anyone and my friends even helped them wipe the table and their pants. We undertood that accidents can happen. But I told my friends that, normally, with this kind of mess, a good restraurant would normally offer either a discount or a coupon to the customers and I was very confident that SHABURINA would offer us a discount cuz I had been there a couple of times and I had good impression on them, plus, I have been to other restraurants which offered us a discount when they brought us inconvenience WITHOUT US EVEN ASKED, and I always raised the tips to them since I felt being respected, so I would love to tip them more. BUT I WAS WRONG!!!
They brought us a normal bill, which is totally fine, cuz I did not say they need to offer us a discount but when I asked politely for a discount since that full glass of spilled water did bring such a mess, the guy, same guy who wiped the floor, came, and said: "I heard that you want a discount, but I have never seen any customers ask for a discount on such a small accident, it happens all the time, plus I did not see any waitress spilled the water." HE WAS THE ONE WHO ACTUALLY WIPED THE FLOOR and now he said he did not see it happened? My friend then asked him, if it was you eating at a restraurant and a waitress spilled a whole glass of water on you, what would you think? The guy rudely interrupted us and said: OK, let's stop right here, if it was me, I would be fine and will not ask for a discount, as a normal human being." WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? We are not normal human being just because we asked for a discount due to a waitress spilled a whole glass of water on us and created such a mess? Then he said: "you know what, you want a discount? I will give you some discount." He attitude was rude and condescending. And later after my friends went outside, he even told me that the waitress said it was my friends raised their hand and spilled that glass of water. But my friends even did not move at all! The waitress clearly lied and try to blame that on my friends.
The discount he gave us was pathetic, only 10% off on only two of my friends' meals, which was like, 8 dollars off out of a nearly $200 bill. We still gave them 18% tips since we are not cheap. We asked for a discount simply because we want to feel better after such a mess and being respected.
He could rather decline our discount request politely and we would probably understand, but with this pathetic, unwilling discount, and such a rude and condescending attitude? I would never go there again. This is how a restraurant losts its...
Read moreThis restaurant has a subpar quality of food, service and customer service. There is nothing special and worth spending money and time in this place. We had a reservation for an event with over 15 ppl at this location and called multiple times to check if we can secure a room or designated spot and assisted with dietary restrictions and was promised that all will be settled for us, however nothing went as expected and promised: 1- food quality: Poor- we arrived right after opening around 5, where we saw the food bar for the most part we’re still empty and the rest of items were thawing, half frozen nothing is served fresh here. Additionally no labeling on what’s vegetarian and not vegetarian with no proper cutlery for separate dishes, so our vegetarian folks was completely disappointed by lack of proper separation and cross using spoons and forks. 2- service: Awful- the sever assigned all of us in 2 tables while the entire section was empty, although they promised the entire zone. We started ordering different meat options and then they started policing us on not sharing meats in rude way without explaining ahead of time and made everyone half way through the ordering to upgrade the meat. Very unprofessional service throughout where we had to walk and find the server to bring us water and other drinks. Not welcoming at all.
As we had more ppl came through the night they had to sit in different places and had to bring the server each time to set someone up. These are all happened in a weekday evening where the place had barely other ppl in other seats not until 2 hours after.
They did not have any desert and ice cream machine was out of order without proper sign of communication. Half of food trays were empty and never backfilled throughout the night.
When asking for the bill, the sever took my cart without explaining anything or showing the bill and charge my card, and said they cannot print the receipt and they can only email the receipt.
I finally got the receipt and noticed on a close to 1k bill I was charged for 20% tip and 3% credit card surcharge. This is by far the most absurd amount of tip and surcharge for a very subpar quality and no communication on the extra charges.
Customer service- Poor : I called multiple times to talk to the manager but never was connected, noon with proper communication was able to listen and address my complaints.
I had a very good experience in the east coast trying the Japanese hot pot, but this place has a very poor quality of food and service and customer service...
Read moreShaburina in Redmond, WA, offers a delightful shabu-shabu experience that stands out for its freshness and variety. Having dined there twice—once for lunch and once for dinner—I've had the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy their House Course, which includes a choice of broth, Beef Chuck, Shortplate, Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, and access to an extensive buffet and sauce bar. The food quality is exceptional, with all ingredients being remarkably fresh. The meats are served super thinly sliced, making them perfect for quick cooking at the table. I found myself completely stuffed after both visits, which speaks to the generous portions and the all-you-can-eat nature of the experience.
Service at Shaburina can vary from good to great. During my visits, the staff was attentive, though there were moments where the service felt a bit inconsistent. However, they were generally friendly and quick to refill our meat orders.
The buffet bar is a highlight, offering a wide range of choices beyond just meat. It features an impressive selection of vegetables and greens, along with seafood options like shrimp, octopus, and clams, which were particularly amazing. There were also several types of noodles available, and the buffet was consistently well-stocked, ensuring that diners have plenty of options to customize their meals.
When it comes to broth, Shaburina provides a variety ranging from a simple water base to a spicy option. I typically opt for the Kombu or Sukiyaki broth, which strikes a nice balance in flavor.
The sauce bar is extensive, although I did wish for some guidance on good sauce combinations to enhance the meal.
One standout recommendation is the chrysanthemum leaves, which add a fantastic flavor to the dish. And don’t forget to indulge in the free ice cream at the end of your meal—though I found myself too full to enjoy it on both occasions!
Overall, Shaburina offers a fresh and delicious dining experience that is both interactive and customizable. Cooking at your table allows for a unique culinary adventure, making it a fun outing for anyone who...
