I originally ate here on their opening night, and I reviewed this place as just 3 stars, although I reviewed it under Jack Sprat because at the time they were one restaurant on google maps. But they're two kitchens so they deserve two reviews even if they have some sort of financial partnership, so this review is just for the pizza. The first pizza had a good flavor profile, but the cheese and the crust didn't come through because the pizza wasn't cooked all the way through. I said I would come back to give them another taste after they get used to their new kitchen, and I did. I ordered the same Poggio Picante, and everything I liked about it remained consistent. And, pleasantly, the pizza was cooked perfectly this time. You could hear the bottom when you scraped it, and the crust was soft and pillowy on the inside, but crunchy on the outside. The cheese was nicely browned. The pizza really came together this time, I don't have anything bad to say about it at all.
They also fixed up their online appearance, so it's very clear that there is two restaurants together, and the google reviews are separate. If you google "Pizza Poggio" you get Jack Sprat's website, which has both logos and the online ordering is clear. I'm really happy to see this restaurant has made these little improvements, it shows they really care about their craft. I'm very willing to believe my first pizza, which wasn't terrible mind you, was a fluke of the new kitchen. I expect more great pies in the future! I'm a bit of an ice cream snob, but I might even try your soft serve.
The price point isn't cheap, but that's normal for food in the area. I'd still argue that Spark Pizza makes the best pizza I've had in the area, but the margin is really thin. They're both great pizzas, and Spark charges a similar price or even a little higher for a smaller pizza (12" there vs 14" here. A 14" is actually like 36% more pizza by area!). The service is shockingly quick, too. They get the order, and put it in the damn oven and get it to you. Pizzas don't take long to cook, so they don't keep you waiting. I think I had my order in about 10 minutes after ordering online. Fantastic! If you're in the area, check out Pizza...
Read moreMy husband and I were traveling earlier this week and stayed at a hotel across the street from this place. After being on the road for 9 hours, all we wanted to do was order dinner after checking in and get some rest. I called to see if we could get a pizza delivered. When I called, the female staff member told me we had to download an app I'd never heard of to place the delivery order. I said OK and she hen proceeded to ask me twice where we were ordering from. Even asking what neighbood we were in. She didn't seem to know that our hotel was right across the street when I mentioned it (a 4 min walk per Google maps). I'd expressed that we were from out of town so I didn't know the neighborhoods. She then asked if we "would definitely be picking the order up after it was placed"...huh? Why she asked this idk. So after I hung up and told my husband this convo, he decided to call again to place an order for pickup instead (he was going to walk there to get it). The same female staff member answered asking him again where he was placing the order from. He explained that I had just called and how we planned to pick up our pizza instead - and that he would be coming from right across the street. We found it so odd how she kept asking us this. Anyway, my husband goes to get the pizza and is just handed it after telling them his name. He could have literally walked off with it, as no one working there asked for payment. However, since we are not those type of people, he asked what he owed. He' was then told to go in another entrance to pay, which he did. It would've been nice if the woman taking our order mentioned this process via phone since it was obvious we'd never been there before. The pizza we got for $26 had very thin crust that wasn't cooked enough. The cheese and pepperoni slid right off each slice. Never again would we go here. It wasn't worth the hassel for the customer service or quality of the...
Read moreShort version: this pizza is so good it deserves to have people lining up outside waiting for it. Honestly the best pizza I’ve had in Seattle. It’s the real deal: thin crust that’s chewy, tangy sauce, and real cheese and toppings. They give out little containers of Parmesan and red pepper too! I usually go for the pepperoni with fresh garlic (seriously why don’t more pizza places offer fresh garlic, it’s amazing).
I guess if you like really thick crust or overly doughy pizza with cheap cheese, this isn’t the place for you. But otherwise, you should definitely try it.
BTW, if you have leftovers it tastes just as good the next day: preheat a cast iron or carbon steel pan large enough to fit an entire slice over medium heat, then microwave for 1/3 to 1/2 the usual time (just enough to bring to room temperature or slightly lower), butter the pan (it should sizzle) and toss that bad boy in there for a solid three minutes (you’ll think it’s burning...
