I've eaten here twice, once for dinner and once for a coffee break.
For dinner, I got a burger and fries. The fries were really nice, crispy but still fluffy on the inside. Seasoning was great, and it came with a white sauce that was really nice (not sure exactly what it was, I think it's mayo based, but it's creamy and delicious). The burger, however, was really bad. The toppings and bun were fine, they seemed fresh and crisp, but the patty was just awful. There's no option to pick a temperature for the burger on the site, so I specified "medium rare" in the special instructions. It's never a good sign when the restaurant doesn't have this option for a burger, so my hopes were admittedly low, but this was just an overcooked mess. The burger was dry, just no juice at all. I might as well have gotten it from a fast food joint. At least Five Guys has the decency to make their well done smash burgers super greasy; this burger was trying to be fancy but I'm sorry well done burgers just don't cut it.
Speaking of overcooked, for a coffee break I had a mocha latte with oat milk and a chocolate croissant. The latte was not very good, I ended up pouring it out. The espresso in it is super dark and bitter, it honestly tastes almost burnt, and there wasn't much sweetener in it to balance it out. It's very reminiscent of Starbucks. If you don't think Starbucks tastes like burnt water, maybe you'll like this, but I hated it. There was also a lot of foam on top for a latte, which is just oversteaming the milk. The croissant was decent. It was flakey, but still pillowy soft. It wasn't as super buttery as you'd like a croissant to be, but it was a pleasant croissant. There are some better ones in the area, but it was pretty good. It was a little small, but it was only $4, so it was reasonable.
Service was pretty good. The latte took longer than I'd expect, but it was also like 1 p.m. and there weren't many customers, so the barista probably just had to warm up the espresso machine. The staff was friendly both times I...
Read moreBugs!! Today we bought a breakfast from Jack sprat. It was a breakfast sandwich (freggie egg+ cheese on brioche bun) and an almond bakery item (don’t know the exact name). Food was good but there were bugs inside almond croissant. When we went to inform them the server she was not at all apologetic instead her reply was “Do you want another one but you almost finished it.” Getting another one was never my intention. But it’s a restaurant and they are selling food. We would have not written this review if she would have shown some concern but sadly it was not the case. Please see the proof of my review in the picture. We actually removed one of the bug to see if we are actually right or not.
Update : A couple of clarifications after reading your comment. We did have the food outside the building but we never took out the croissant from the bag it was given. So, it wouldn’t have got contaminated outside. Secondly, the barista wasn’t serving any customer at the time we were speaking to her. She took the croissant from us and asked us if we would want another one and was thankful for letting her know. I understand these things can happen, but it would have been nicer to accept it and be apologetic about it. We are not questioning the hygiene of the...
Read moreWe'll be back for sure! We two stopped for coffee and pastries.
SERVICE: 4.0. Positive and fast. Heated up our pastries without being asked. One orders at one of the two touch-screens near the entry, or via mobile phone after grabbing a table and scanning a QR code.
AMBIANCE: 3.0. Ground floor on a building corner with ceiling to floor windows facing to the southwest. Very high ceilings. Good sound system, though the music was a bit loud and the music sounded canned and like a genre of failed faux funk (to my ears). Clean tables and bathrooms. Table and bar seating, including a couple of large high tables capable of seating large groups. Large screen with projector can be lowered from the ceiling for sports games and movies. Fun large magnetic Scrabble board affixed to one wall (near door to bathrooms) with limited letters is a fun distraction.
COFFEE and PASTRIES: 3.5 4.0: Americano. A bit dark for my taste, but well-made. 3.0: Decaf with almond milk. Decaf latte unavailable, so settled for this. Unsatisfying. 4.0: Croissant. My partner liked her croissant as it was warmed up; that earned 0.5 points alone. 3.0: Chocolate Croissant (aka Pain au Chocolat). Not very flaky, but acceptable; being served warmed up...
